My children have been at Boston Tae Kwon Do for over 7 years and they have grown so much physically, mentally and emotionally. The support they have received from the staff is tremendous. My daughter even wrote an english paper on how supportive the instructors have been to her. The instructors are phenomenal with all the kids and know how to work with each one to bring out the best in them. And, they are always putting forth a positive attiitude making the kids feel positive too.
Each of my children's self confidence and self esteem has improved significantly from their years at Boston Tae Kwon Do. I am amazed at how easily my son and daughter perform their forms in front of a room full of people. They are proud of what they have accomplished and it shows! My son started at age 6 and by age 12 he became a black belt! The instructors work hard with the students to help them succeed which only builds their confidence more.
Master Montrond cares about all his students and it shows in the fact that he knows every one of their names! It's a wonderful place for a child to grow in every way!

Excellent team of instructors ! Our kids love to take class and have look at the teachers as big brothers ! It is a school where your kids can learn martial arts but most important discipline, respect and patience! I simply love to go there and watch the class!

I have been with Boston Tae Kwon Do as a student for the past 15 years of my life. I would say that this has been one of the greatest long-running experiences I have had in my life. Master Montrond is an amazing teacher and man who cares deeply about his students. He was more than a teacher to me. He was a mentor, a role model, and a friend. The staff are incredibly skilled and patient with the students. Not only does the school teach the students to be skilled at the martial arts, but it also helps to instill qualities that help in other aspects of life. Self-discipline, control, focus, respect, patience, courage, persistence and dedication are all taught as important. In a time when much of the attitude is to ""do whatever is needed to get ahead"" it is amazing to see that there is a school that is determined and dedicated to training and studying with integrity. My experiences at Boston Tae Kwon Do Academy helped shape me into who I am today, and I am incredibly grateful to have had that opportunity. I would HIGHLY recommend studying there. I do not agree with the two reviews that gave one star. After being at that school for most of my life and almost the entire duration of the school's existence, I can say that I have never seen the behavior described there. The instructors are far from cocky, and are incredibly patient. They are the most qualified teachers I have met and deeply care for their students. The reviewers are even patient when faced by some of the most disrespectful children I have seen. The change I have seen in those students' lives are incredible. From low self esteem to high confidence, unhealthy to great shape, disrespectful and loud to respectful.

Boston Taekwondo Academy is a terrific place to bring your kids. All of the instructors are not only good instructors, they truly care about the kids with the focus on making them good people.
I wholeheartedly agree with dancemyth. My son has been going to BTK for four years now and it has really helped him to take control of his body and improve his focus.
Master Montrond is a phenominal guy who takes pride in what he does and is a fantastic influence over the kids. His attitude is also reflected in all of the instructors I have seen there, both those there now as well as others who have been there in the past.
As for the first two folks who reviewed BTK, I truly wonder if there is another facility that they are confusing with this one because there is nothing in my experience there that leads me to agree with anything that was stated there. They are an impressive group, good teachers, good people you can trust your kids with even when your kids aren't having their best days. Kudos!

I am confounded by the 2 prior reviews. My son has been attending BTK for 4 1/2 years. It has been the only activity he has stuck with for this long, and I give the academy all the credit for that.
Master Montrond is a truly exceptional instructor, motivator, and coach. He has a very special ability to connect with kids. I have watched him teach children with attention and learning problems - he is patient, positive, and very effective.
Above all, Mr Montrond uses positive reinforcement. He teaches integrity, humility, and self-confidence. It is hard to believe that he can maintain such a energetic, positive demeanor class after class, day after day, but I truly have never seen him have a ""bad day.""
He has also assembled a terrific staff. Clearly they all believe in his method of positive reinforcement. They make classes fun, as well as enriching. He has very little staff turnover. I think this says a lot about the program that he runs.
One of the prior reviewers used the word ""arrogant"" to describe him (if they were in fact reviewing the right place). This is totally bewildering, as this is the last word I would use to describe any of the staff. Mr Montrond goes out of his way to treat the students and their parents with respect. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. (and I DONT like arrogant people).
Another reviewer complained of instructors not showing up. In nearly 5 years, there has never been a singe instance of this happening to our family.
The only qualification I would give, is that the school really focuses on building self-confidence, balance, and general athleticism. It does not focus very much on time real self-defense skills. If you want your son or daughter to develop real fighting skills, this may not be the best place.

an important detail that the reviewer left out is that sometimes the instructor doesnt show up or let you know he isnt going to be there. do you know how annoying that is?
a school door has a cutout of the instructor doing a kick is prolly not a good sign.

I pulled my child (as did many others) after attending Boston TKD - the instructor was exceptionally arrogant and was not receptive to my concerns and the concerns of many other parents. It seemed difficult to meet the needs of children or to be able to gauge what the needs even are. I've always said that just because someone knows how to do something does not mean that one can teach it. Furthermore, teaching something to children is completely different from teaching to adults - I don't think they understand that concept there. They did not know how to instill confidence, how to motivate, or instill good values. All they did was bark orders at the kids and get frustrated when the kids didn't obey instead of properly handling the situation.
To be frank, I became highly skeptical of martial arts after seeing what was considered an ""art"" at this school. At the suggestion of some other parents, however, we chose another school close by and can't believe the difference. Do yourself (or your children) a favor - do NOT send your kids here; hard earned money is better spent elsewhere.
