I had been a member of gym 5's for about a year and I thought it was great! It was never really crowded and the machines are nice...however it is VERY limited with the exercise regimine you can have. All there are are like 10 ellipiticals and 10 treadmills with a couple of bikes thrown in. The weight machines are quality, but like I said your limited! I decided to leave gym5 bc the new Y opened downtown and it is MILLION times better and has a trillion of extra options for my workout!! The owner of Gym 5 is not friendly and seriously he became really rude the day I mentioned cancelling!! I get that but please you are a business of people and he charges almost $20 more than the Y and has 75% less equipment and options than the Y (such as 2 tracks, 2 pools, steam rooms, sauna, massage therapists, a ton of classes, pilates studio, more than 3 stretching mats, helpful and polite staff, and best of all not the risk of getting knifed in the parking lot!!)

I moved to East Nashville about a year ago and wanted to find a good gym that was close to my house. My home is in proximity to several since I am close to downtown. Over the years I have been a member of larger gyms and didn't want to join another corporate gym. One of my friends suggested that I should check out Gym 5. When I got there and looked around I knew it was the one I wanted to join. The gym is clean, staff is friendly and the equipment is in great condition. They also have boot camp style classes and kickboxing classes that I enjoy. So, if your looking for a gym - give Gym 5 a shot! I'm glad I did.
This place has all the essentials of a great gym - quality equipment, lots of space, clean showers, group classes, etc...plus, everyone is laid-back and friendly. I've tried other health clubs in Nashville, but Gym 5 won me over on my first visit.
We have been members of the gym for a year now and love it! The free weight room is huge and open, with tons of mirrors and light, great equipment, rubber floor and plates so the ambience is nice. Great classes and tons of cardio equipment and very nice locker rooms. Plenty of parking, beautiful and clean, and the staff are always really cool, helpful and knowledgeable. Also there's a massage therapist who works out of the gym and she's amazing! Wouldn't work out anywhere else in East Nashville, that's for sure. LOVE GYM 5!
Gym 5 is located near the flourishing 5 Points neighborhood in East Nashville. The place is spacious, always clean, visually appealing, and in a convenient location. The staff members are always helpful and personable. If I ever have a question, or need assistance, they are always willing to help out, whether its getting a towel when I've been working out or giving me a new pass for my keychain.. They have a wide array of classes, including Yoga and Pole Fitness for the ladies. Equipment is spaced out better than many gyms, which is especially safe and helpful for when multiple people workout. I especially love the layout and the aesthetic of the place. This is one gym that has no problem keeping me, or any others for that matter, as a member. I am totally satisfied.
Have been a member of Gym 5 for the last year and highly recommend it to anyone in the area. Great staff, always attentive, professional and always ready to help with my endless questions about any of the equipment. They have all the equipment you could ever want - for guys and girls, and it's always a very laidback atmosphere so you can work out at your own pace without being disturbed by anyone. Staff have always been great, right from the first day I walked in a year ago, to today. They have some fun fitness classes too, and often run boot-camp series. Highly recommend checking it out.
I'm a member of Gym 5 and enjoy the atmosphere. The gym is very clean, and the staff has always been very friendly to me. When I first joined everyone was very helpful in showing me around and explaining the equipment to me. I felt very comfortable walking into a new situation, and the front desk has been extremely nice to me. It's nice to walk into a place where you are made to feel like family, from check in to check out.
The front desk staff is especially helpful and always seems interested in how I am doing as a person and extremely interested in ensuring I have a great experience at the gym.
I'd definitely recommend this place. In fact, I have -- several times.
I am a Nashville Native and I grew up around YMCA's. However, Gym 5 in East Nashville is truly the best gym in Nashville..at least public. There are always clean towels, plenty of free equipment, great and friendly staff and good music. The locker room and shower facilities are spacious and stocked with good quality products free tp use. I also have met many members of the personal training staff and they are very freindly, approchable and qualified. I have always found the front desk staff, including both the tall girls that work there, to be nothing but friendly and attentive to any requests I have. This is definitely a gym that's great for adults...but it is not a YMCA child atmosphere. Not that that is bad, actually one of the reasons its great! I actually greatly enjoy not having 10 year olds trying to use the weight machines besdie me :) just wouldn't recommend it for families with small children. Definitely worth checking it out for yourself

This is the absolute most poorly put together and staffed gym, it hardly even reserves the right to be called a gym. The staff is extremely unhelpful, esp the tall girl with big bangs at front counter, she was so rude and was clearly more involved with checking her myspace than helping customers. I will never go back!

I was a member of the YMCA on Gallatin for several years. It was close, so I signed up when I moved into the area. I recently changed my membership to Gym 5 and don't miss the Y at all! Gym 5 offers everything I want in a gym, without the lines and chaos of the Y. Everyone who works there is great and I feel comfortabe working out there. If I have a question, they answer it and I don't have to stand in a line to wait to get attention. They also offer personal training at a reasonable rate. Check it out and see for yourself.
