The company was founded in 1978 by Arthur Verner Woodward-- a local attorney who moved to Marco Island from Illinois. In 1971, Arthur founded the first law firm in Collier County; he and his wife had twin boys-- Mark and Craig Woodward-- who now operate the title company and are principals in the law firm, Woodward, Pires, & Lombardo, P.A. For years, Mark and Craig learned from their father the art of preparing title searches and abstracts, and they helped build an impressive title plant. Today, the company is one of the top title agents for Chicago Title and Old Republic Title, and has remained in continuous operation longer than any of its competitors.
