- Room Additions
- New Construction
- DemolitionWork on the Dry Creek subdivision consisted of site demolition and prep for fourteen new homes: Demo of existing building, removal of trees, lead abatement, grading, trenching, installation of sanitary sewer and storm drain lines, installation of water system including fire and house services, subgrade prep, installation of sidewalk curb & gutter, and paving street.
- Foundation Installation
- FencingPreparing the terrain required erosion control, BMP installation and maintenance of the wetland. Before installation of the pedestrian/bicycle bridge, the abutments of the previous bridge were excavated and replaced; retaining walls and fences were installed; and the bike path was raised to meet the bridge. After the placement of the bridge, the bike-path was graded and paved and the Vine Trail resumed function.
- Tree RemovalBefore work on the removal of the old bridge could begin, implementation and maintenance of storm water runoff, including tree and wildlife protection measures, were put into place as well as tree removal and trimming.
- DrivewaysDue to the natural wear of time and weather, the Greater Vallejo Recreation District needed to restore the entryway to the Dan Foley Park, requiring new curbs, driveway and parking lot.
- Asphalt Paving
- ExcavationRemoval and demolition consisted of the existing 10’ x 75’ steel and concrete bridge over Redwood Creek, site fencing, asphalt driveway and existing bridge abutments. Excavation and installation of new bridge abutments and drilled-hole pier foundations were completed before the installation of the pre-manufactured 12’ x 80’ steel bridge with an 8” double mat concrete deck. Subgrade conditioning for bridge approaches and the new driveway section was performed along with base rock and asphalt placement and installation of a new rock lined swale.
- Retaining WallsNielson Construction's portion of this multi-million dollar residence included all the earthwork, installation of utilities, retaining walls and completion of access roads and courtyards.
- WalkwaysOnce this was accomplished, the sidewalks were demolished from the street up to the entry of each storefront and the work began. The crews worked around the clock to ensure the project would be completed before the Memorial Day weekend, while maintaining access to the stores. Old utilities were updated and new utilities were installed before the concrete forms were placed. Once the forms were in place, the concrete was poured with brick detail throughout the walkways. As the signs and benches were replaced, trees were planted alongside the street, in time for the streetscape on First Street to welcome Memorial Day visitors.
