Just ate lunch here from out of town. Seating was quick and waiter asked for drink order and delivered it fairly prompt so I thought it was going to be a good choice. My friend ordered unsweetened iced tea and I ordered Diet Coke. She had a drowned bug attached to the lemon wedge (that she didn't want nor was asked). When we told the waiter he didn't seem to know what to say and she had to ask for a fresh glass of tea with no lemon. I never received a drink refill and waiter was not attentive to our needs. When he brought out the chips and salsa there was little more than half a bowl of salsa for 2 people. Chips were crisp and tasty, salsa was good but it had cilantro in it. But I like cilantro so that was no problem. I ordered the lunch Express chicken quesadilla with sour cream lettuce and tomato. It looked appetizing when it reached our table. I received ample amount for one serving. The sour cream lettuce and tomato were enough for one person. I was really thirsty and wanted a refill on my diet coke but the waiter never seem to see me or hear me when I called him as he walked by. He never offered a refill when he brought our check. I was shocked to see the price of the sour cream lettuce and tomato. I knew it would be extra, but their prices seemed out of line for what I got. my entree the chicken quesadilla plus a drink with $6.75, but the sour cream was 2 dollars and lettuce and tomato was an additional $2! The food was average, service was fairly poor. I don't think I would go back.

by far the nicest and best value in all of Mt Vernon Il. Food is made to order and margaritas (even the cheap ones) are by far the best Ive ever tasted. We make this a must stop when we travel through in I57.

If you like authentic Mexican food, then you will love the Agave Restaurant. The service is great and the prices are very reasonable. The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. I love this restaurant and eat there as often as I can every time I come back to Mt. Vernon.

You have to go for the margaritas! Best recipe I have ever tasted. They are very reasonably priced and the waiters are very kind and generous.
