- Dental SealantsA BPA-free resin sealant is used to seal newly-erupted molars in children to prevent decay. The sealant is fills in narrow grooves in a tooth that cannot be adequately cleaned by brushing. In some cases, the tooth has fine grooves or pits which accumulate plaque because they're too narrow to allow even one toothbrush bristle into them. These will develop cavities over time unless they are sealed. A coating seals the grooves and pits, making it possible for your child to brush off all the plaque and keep his/her teeth healthy more easily.

- CrownsIt takes two appointments to restore a tooth with a crown. In the first appointment, any decay is removed from the tooth and it is shaped to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, usually of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material, or full gold. During this time a temporary crown is worn. In the second visit this temporary cap is removed. The permanent crown is adjusted as needed and then cemented in place.

- Root Canal TreatmentFillings are done to remove decay and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling because a new material fills the hole that decay left. We use only mercury-free bonded tooth-colored composite fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If left untreated, decay can lead to tooth pain and/or infection and the tooth would need root canal treatment or extraction.
- Deep CleaningWe have an excellent program in our hygiene department that allows us to keep mostpatientswith mild to moderate gum disease right here in our office with the same provider. Treating gum disease usually initially involves a deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) done while you are comfortably numb under a local anesthetic. Sometimes local antibiotic agents are used for deeper pockets around teeth. Occaionally, a patient's gum disease is too severe to be treated inside a general practice and they need to be referred to a specialist.
- DenturesWhen Dentures can replace some or all of your teeth and are removable. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to loosen them or let them fall out, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.
- Dental ImplantsA dental implant is an option to replace a missing tooth. In this procedure, a small titanium shaft is surgically implanted into the bone and allowed to set. The bone grows around it forming a tight connection, which additionally slows or stops the bone loss that occurs when the root of a natural tooth is missing. Once the implant is firmly set in the mouth, the dentist then works to attach the replacement tooth onto the top of the shaft. This permanent solution has the advantages over bridge work that it does not stress the surrounding teeth for support, and, should the tooth wear out, another can simply be replaced on the shaft.
