I just recently purchased a 2009 Toyota Rav4 from Elite Auto Center. With tax and registration, I paid a little over $14,000 for the car, which is on the higher end of it's retail Blue Book value, for a car in good condition (and with similar millage). The next day I took it to a detailer to fix a scratch, and to my surprise was informed that the whole car had been repainted. I then took it to several body shops who informed me that it had been poorly repainted and would appear to have been in an accident (back body panel pops out if you touch it, panels do not line up, waviness in panels, among other things). Due to problems with the poor paint job, I was quoted $8,000 to correct the problem and repaint the car. Before buying the car, I had asked if the car had been in an accident and was told that it had not been. When I called Ashley (owner) about the problem, she told me they would do nothing and that the problem was mine (she said speak to my attorney). Paid 14K now worth half.
