The organization has a contract with the city government of Minneapolis to endorse the city and its surrounding areas as a convention site and visitor destination. It was founded in 1987 as the Greater Minneapolis Convention & Visitors Association. The organization s partners include American Express and Metro Transit. Meet Minneapolis operates through administration, convention sales, marketing and tourism sales departments. It offers a variety of membership, marketing and promotional packages for business clients. The organization works with international tour operators, travel agents, and reunion and wedding planners.
