General Info
Dr. Spentzouris completed his undergraduate education at Stony Brook University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacology. Thereafter, he earned his Doctor of Medicine at St. Georges University and pursued his General Surgery Residency and Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Stony Brook University. He also undertook advanced training in Endovascular Aortic Surgery at the Klinikum Nurnberg Aortic Center in Germany after winning the prestigious Michael Silane traveling Scholarship Competition. Dr. Spentzouriss clinical areas of expertise include open and endovascular approaches to aortic aneurysms, aortic dissections, carotid disease, peripheral arterial disease, dialysis access, thoracic outlet syndrome, and venous disease. He is one of the few surgeons on Long Island who performs transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) a minimally invasive alternative to open carotid endarterectomy and fenestrated endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (fEVAR). Specifically, in the area of venous disease, he has been trained in the latest advances in varicose vein treatment. This includes endovenous laser vein closure, radiofrequency vein closure, Clarivein, microphlebectomy, and sclerotherapy. Outside of the operating room, Dr. Spentzouris is an active member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), American Venous Forum (AVF), Eastern Vascular Society (EVS), and Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS). He has numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at major vascular conferences. He has also earned research scholarships and awards for his presentations at national meetings. Dr. Spentzouriss has a keen interest in cutting edge as well as routine vascular interventions, in addition to a deep commitment to vascular research.
