Definitely understands electrical engineering, that being said they are difficult to work with and the design work he performed on our project had gaps and when everything was installed it was impractical (3 way switches in awkward places, overpowering a mid sized home, no ability to do smart home, etc). In the end we had to undergo expensive changes to our plans in order to address many of the short comings from Protek's MEP work on our home. Protek is definitely not a good choice if you are looking to build a smart home or want the electrical with in your home to be easy to use.
