Sushi Samba is a solid 4 star place. The staff is attentive. The sushi, while not particularly memorable, was fresh and tasted good. I'd come here again.
The food is good, but the service was not. Our waiter was a little rude and slow with everything. He didn't check up on us and we had to get his attention often. Our drinks also took a very long time. No wonder he didn't care about us, the gratuity is included!
I'd like to self proclaim myself to be a sushi connoisseur and I have to say that this was average. I've had way better sushi at way cheaper prices. The server was good and the ambience was cool (as probably all the Sushi Sambas are)....
Great sushi...they do not go cheap on the fish in the rolls like some places do. Also, the sake was great...waiter was informative...although i felt like he tried to rush us in the end by pouring all of our sake into our glasses...which we did not want to do b/c we wanted to keep it warm until we were ready to finish it. Other than that, everything was great!
We were pleasantly impressed with Sushi Samba Dromo. We visited on a night when they were celebrating Brazil Independence Day, so the evening included samba dancers and musicians. Our waitress was extremely nice, energetic, and attentive. The sushi was great, the entrees were delicious and the dessert was sublime. Well worth the price!
As a native New Yorker and frequent Sushi Samba goer in NYC I had to try the famous restaurant chain's outpost in South Beach. And sure enough it did not disappoint. The ambiance mixed with the delectable food and even better cocktails proved to be the best dinner I had during my trip to Miami.
Although the ambiance is fun and interesting, it is definately not worth the price. The service is slow and the servers do not take the time to explain the food or refill drinks. The portions are really small and it takes about an hour between courses to get your food. The food was good but nothing special. You are mostly paying for eating in South Beach.
FANTASTIC SUSHI & STEAK!! FANTASTIC SUSHI & STEAK!! FANTASTIC SUSHI & STEAK!! FANTASTIC SUSHI & STEAK!!
When my friends pick this place I was a little unsure but WOW was I happy she did when I got there! The decor is great so when I first walked in I really like what I saw. The service was great the wait staff was so patience and nice, I dine with a large group so we had a lot of questions as first time dining experience at sushi samba dromo. The menu is very diverse it was something there for everyone. The manager sent over complimentary appetizers to the table and that is when I tasted the best calamari on the beach it was different and great a must try (!Chicharron de Calamar :cornmeal-crusted calamari with tamarind sauce, tomato salsa & plantain
They have great sushi and good martini's! try to go at night with a group and feel the night life!
This is a great Sushi restaurant. It seems to always have fresh and unique types of Sashimi dishes; the service is very energetic and helpful, and good; living in South Beach getting good service at a restaurant is not common. Of course sitting outside you get to people watch and enjoy the great scenery that Lincoln Road has to offer. I highly recommend this Sushi restaurant; it's one of the best in South Beach. I read some older reviews that slammed the restaurant on how long it takes to get the food, this is a very busy restaurants on certain night and if you are in a hurry to eat, I personally wouldn't eat anywhere on Lincoln Road, or just go get a slice of Pizza somewhere. The many times that we went service was very quick when it wasn't a Thursday-Sunday night, and one the busy nights we didn't think it was too bad either.
The food and drinks are all spectacular! I don't know if they are still doing karaoke on tuesdays, but it was surprisingly full on what's supposed to be the slowest day of the week for the restaurant business. I have tried several menu items as well as drinks and am yet to be dissappointed. Has a bit of a celebrity feel to it.
When I went there I thought it would be the same thing over again. But oh boy I was wrong. I had the Lomo Saltado and almost licked the plate when I was done. Yes, it was that good. Amazing how the mix different flavors. I could feel the Asian and Latin fusion on every bite. I also tried some eel sushi, the tenderloin ceviche and both were fantastic. To finish my dinner, I sipped a Nina Fresa. Perfect martini.
After not being to eat at Sushi Samba since its most anticipated opening in 2001, I gave another try last week and what a change! The food was IMPRESSIVE! We had the Kobe Tataki, it was delicious. I also loved the baked lobster and the desserts , specially the passionfruit sabayon. WE HAD A GREAT TIME! defenetly our favorite spot in Miami Beach.
If you're looking for a quiet meal with attentive service don't even think about Sushi Samba. If you're looking for a place to kick back with some unusual drinks and light appetizers while you people-watch, this is a great place to do it.
I was there last night with a group of 10: great salmon tartare and duck entree, but service was the worst I have had during the last year. The waiter forgot some of the appetizers and brought whatever he remembered to the wrong people. We asked for heaters (it was cold outside) and had to wait 30 minutes to have one. It was a three hour dinner..and we only ordered 3 courses.
this is a somewhat overpriced joint for those who wanna be. The food is pretty good, though the portions are quite small. Good service. Noisy as hell.
its true.Real japanese sushi chef, very freh fish, great latin-japanese menu,a lots of nice cold sake, hey that all you need hot miami night.
Recently I returned to Sushi Samba, very excited since my first experience there a couple of years ago was amazying. Well, this second time - I will NEVER go back. The waiter was rude, left me in mid sentence to help another table that had a problem. The manager took the order after I called him over, then the my sushi came as an appetizer (after we already had appetizers) and my other friends meals came 1 hr 10 minutes after we got to the restaurant. We left the food and didn't eat. It was really horrible and the manager did nothing to make it easier until I told him I was going to write this review. The food, experience of bad service is not worth it. No wonder the restaurant was empty.
since when does sushi have to be eaten on ivory plates and served by supermodels? When did Japanese cuisine deviate from it's heritage and spun out from latin america? (other than brazil's Rio)
Although someone rebel has to deviate from the norm, I think it's way off and offensive to my culture. I only went because everyone I was with wanted to be seen there. I was seen I guess
