I went to Puccino's on West Esplanade this morning around 10:30 with my daughter. We attempted to order the "Go Go Grits," but we were confused by what came with it. The menu just says add spinach, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, add 60 cents. My daughter ordered it with no mushrooms (she thought it was grits with whichever of those toppings you want to go with it). The young girl (cashier) said it didn't come with mushrooms, so I asked her what came with it. She said it's grits with hashbrowns and ham on top. I told the girl we didn't want that since my daughter is a vegetarian. I guess the cook was listening because as my daughter and I were trying to figure out what else we wanted, he yells from the kitchen (keep in mind the kitchen is open to the register and restaurant and we can see him) "it would've been nice if I had been informed before I started cooking it." It was said in a very irritated voice. I looked in the kitchen and could see he was mad. Who was he talking to? We didn't actually order anything yet. We asked for it but as soon as we found out it had ham we said never mind. Was he talking to the cashier? My daughter and I were very confused. Maybe he should wait for the actual order to be placed before starting to cook it. The cashier was extremely nice and told us to take our time. We sat down with the menu, and about a minute later, the cook yells out, "They better not order the same thing I just cleaned up." My daughter and I looked at each other confused. Was he talking about us? The cashier looked embarrassed and started restocking a couple of things. I called her over and asked her if he was talking about us. She looked a little scared and shook her head yes. I asked for the manager and she said he was the manager. I asked for his name and she said, Thomas. I got up and walked over to the kitchen and told Thomas he was a jerk for treating his customers this way. I told him we were not at fault for "ordering" something he had to throw out. We didn't actually order it, plus the menu is very unclear. I told him we could hear everything he was saying and that it was very rude. We left and went to Perks. I am very concerned about the young cashier because 1) she has to work for a manager with anger issues and 2) I'm worried he will fire her because she was honest and told me he was talking about us AND gave us his name. There is a reason no one is ever in that place when I go. Who would want to be in that environment?

My family and I went for breakfast this morning. My sister had ordered before me and had forgotten to purchase a drink for my mother. As I was ordering, my sister asked what fountain drinks were available. Katie, who was the barista placing my order, answered her and then rolled her eyes and made a rude face at her. I said " I bet you did not realize that is my sister when you rolled your eyes and made that face at her?" She said No she did not but that it would not have made a difference. She made it clear she was not going to apologize for her rudeness. I asked for the manager and she pointed to a girl named Morgan. I also asked for the owner's name and phone number, and was told "his name is Mike Williams , but I can't give you his number because we don't even know how to get in touch with him."

I was given for the phone number for the store on Veterans, and Morgan came over to completed my order. I made her aware of what had taken place and at no time did she offer an apology for her co-workers rudeness. As I was leaving the register to put my drinks down, I looked my original barista's name tag, and she said very rudely "it is Katie, my name is Katie."

I walked to my table to put drinks down and then waited for our food at an island in front of the open kitchen window. I over heard Morgan relaying the story of what had just taken place. When Morgan came out of the kitchen and across from where I was standing I asked her, " do you really think it is professional as a shift leader to discuss what happened to the kitchen staff?" She looked at me in my eyes and curtly said" Yes as a matter of fact I do, and we had a good laugh about it."

The manager of this location happen to later come in the store and my sister and I explained what occurred. She had Katie and Morgan come over to the table to apologize, however it was completely insincere and they both smirked the entire time. The manager offered us $25 in gift certificates that will not be used.

In addition, our order was wrong.

I have never been treated so rudely and it was eve ident that the two women could have cared less that they were been mean to a paying customer. Furthermore, the management is ineffective because the women did not fear recourse for their actions and they laughed as they apologized. As an owner of a business, I would want to know if there is an issue with my employees. However, since no one can get in touch with Mike Williams that is not possible.

I am not about to tell folks where they should patronage, but i will say my family and I will never go back. As a side note, I joined Urban Spoon and Yelp today for this review only
