- UltrasoundGlomerulus is a minute tuft of capillary in a urinary space lining. It is the basic functional unit of the kidney. It has multiple layer of cells with very complex structure. Inflammation or diseased glomeruli can lead to kidney failure, blood or protein in urine. Glomerular diseases are diagnosed by a kidney biopsy which is usually done by radiologist assisted with CT scan or ultrasound. Some glomerular diseases require chemotherapy. Glomerular diseases can be associated with other autoimmune diseases and can also affect other part of the body such as your lungs. We treat complex glomerular diseases and in liaison with hematologist/oncologists (cancer doctors) if chemo therapy is needed.
- MRIKidney cysts are diagnosed after abdominal imaging studies such as ultrasound, CT scan or MRI. Based on characteristics of the cysts, additional testing and monitoring are needed. For cysts with suspicion for cancer may require surgical removal by urologist. Kidney cysts can also be inherited such as polycystic kidney disease. Simple cysts are usually benign in nature and commonly diagnosed after the age of 50 and more common in men. We assist in evaluation and referral to urologists if surgery may necessary.
