I was referred to Dr. Kathy by my vet to check out the mast cells tumors on our weimaraner. I was immediately drawn to her because of her gentleness and her wonderful "bedside" manner. My weim must have sensed it too, as she took a treat from her right away and she has never done that with any vet. It wasn't long till she was down on the carpet with Chloe to check her out. Although I can't afford her services as far as cancer surgery goes, she was wonderful about helping me change Chloe's diet, recommending supplements, etc. She spent much time in "mapping" out all of Chloe's tumors so we can watch her more closely. I really trust her judgment and will see her again for consultations. She definitely believes in "alternative" methods(diet, supplements)to help with this disease. If you have need for such a specialty for your pet, I would highly recommend Dr. Kathy. There are many testiments on the wall there from those of us who have been through cancer with our pets.

I'm a veterinarian in general practice that has had the pleasure of referring a few cases to Dr Mitchener over the last few years. She's not only an exceptionally intelligent veterinarian but the degree of compassion and care that she provides for my clients their pets is tremendous. If my own personal pets where to develop cancer I would fully entrust them in the hands of "Dr Kathy". She's a true gem in the veterinary profession!!! We're so lucky to have her in our region!!!

I will forever be grateful to the staff at Angel Care Cancer Clinic for the professional, compassionate, gentle and personal care my dog Bud received for the three years he was on chemotherapy for lymphoma. Dr. Mitchener not only cared for Bud, she made sure that I understood everything that was going on and honestly listened to my concerns and addressed each one. She understood the deep bond between Bud and I and respected any decision I made about his treatment. I have never experienced such sensitivity and respect from a vet. I wish more vets could understand the bond between animal companions and their human counterparts. Bud was happy, healthy, active and enjoyed every moment of those three years with the exception of the last two days and in my book that's the best testimony one can give....the quality of life he enjoyed to the end. I can't say enough about the kindnesses shown us by Peggy, Mike, Kelli and many of the Shelby Center Staff members also. They have my highest regard.
