Provided by YP.comI've had dealing with other companies in this field and then met Jerry the owner and experienced his excellent service and knowledge. I would never go back to the others. Not only is he honest but he also is very fair in his pricing! I had my grandson pick up my vehicle and he gave me the bill. I had to call Jerry back to confirm his low price! Working with these other companies we always feel vunerable being so dependent on our wheels and It's good to have a win/win situation!!

Provided by DexKnowsI am a double amputee and needed hand controls installed in my car. A friend of mine recommended Jerry Slingerland at New Ability in Melrose Park, IL. The process was very simple. I made an appointment and Jerry prepared me for about 4 hours for the installation. On the day of my appointment, Jerry was very accommodating and drove me to a Panera Bread close by where I was able to get an internet connection and get work done while he was installing the hand controls. When he was finished, he returned to pick me up and take me back to his office where he was happy to do some fine tuning on the installation until I was satisfied. He familiarized me with the operation of the hand controls and encouraged me to get back to him if there was anything that needed to be modified. The hand controls have been working wonderfully over these past couple weeks and have really helped to relieve the stress on my right leg. Jeff from Chicago

Provided by DexKnowsI suffered nerve damage in my right leg as the result of a hip replacement in May 2012. As a result, I lost all strength and function in my right foot (severe foot drop) and could not drive. I was depressed and did not know how I would teach in the fall. I talked to several companies that install assist devices for those who cannot drive in the usual way, but Jerry made the process of getting back to teaching the easiest. He told me that I could not modify my car with a stick shift in order to drive with hand controls. So I had to trade it in for a car with an automatic trans. He then installed a left foot gas pedal. The price for the pedal was very reasonable. He then advised me on what I would need to do to learn how to use it correctly. After getting training I was able to drlive the car left-footed until my right foot was sufficiently recovered from the nerve damage. Recently, a year after the surgery, Jerry removed the left foot pedal and restored the car to its new condition as a conventional car.I recommend Jerry and New Ability most highly. He makes it easy to make the transition to driving with assist devices. He was always cordial and helpful.

Provided by DexKnowsI've purchased a left foot gas pedal for my new Honda Civic, since I can drive with only my left foot. I found this place on the internet and called Jerry to ask about details. He was very helpful and he gave me a reasonable price, he also told me about Honda's mobility reimbursement program that I did not know about. Hi did an excellent and perfectly clean job installing the adaptive equipment and it works great. I totally recommend this place to anyone who needs adaptive equipment on their vehicles.
