      With a location in Medley, Fla., the Miami-Dade Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights, as well as maintains peace and order. It undertakes various criminal cases and works with other state, local and federal agencies to ensure public safety. The Miami-Dade Police Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The department organizes a variety of crime prevention events related to conflict resolution, drug and violence prevention, juvenile crime, and general, business, Halloween and school safety. The Miami-Dade Police Department operates the Office of Emergency Management, which handles issues related to emergency preparedness and homeland security that include weather spotting, hazard mitigation, and ground searches and rescue.
