- Dental CareDental health is very important in our pets. A thorough cleaning is important to control gingivitis and calculus build-up, which can predispose to other health problems such as bacteria entering the bloodstream and causing an internal infection. Also, we are able to perform a thorough dental examination and extract any diseased and painful teeth. Last but not least, a dental cleaning freshens your pet's stinky breath!
- VaccinationVaccinations are an important part in the prevention of serious, sometimes deadly diseases. Every pet is an individual, so our vaccine recommendations will be based on their specific lifestyle and threat of exposure.
- Comprehensive ExaminationOur pets can't communicate to us when they don't feel well, so wellness exams are an important part in keeping your pet healthy! We use this opportunity to ask a detailed history and perform a physical examination from nose to tail. Information from wellness exams can help detect early signs of illness or disease so that treatment can begin before progression. This is also a great time for you to ask questions; no question is too silly or insignificant! Finally, wellness exams give us an opportunity to discuss with you routine diagnostic testing or other preventatives that will help keep your pet healthy.
- Parasites Treatment and ControlThe Good Samaritan Adoption Program was started as a way to find loving homes for the stray animals of Marysville as an alternative to euthanasia. The program was started by Dr. Regina Breshears in 1999 and has placed more than 1,200 dogs and cats in their forever homes. We do not euthanize no matter how long it takes to find a home. The Good Samaritan Adoption Program is supported monetarily solely by donations. There is no adoption fee, but we do ask that you make a donation upon adoption to help offset the cost. When adopting a pet, we require a rabies vaccination since it is mandated by law, strongly recommend either spay or neuter (which is half price for pets adopted through the Good Samaritan Program), and ask that you continue to provide necessary care to maintain the health and wellness of your pet (vaccinations, check-ups, and monthly heartworm and flea preventatives).

- Small Animal SurgeryRuss graduated from Kansas State University as a veterinarian in 1989. Dr. Breshears started in Onaga, Kansas as a mixed animal veterinarian for three years. He started working in Marysville in 1992 at Valley Vet Clinic as a mixed animal veterinarian. Russ and his wife Regina purchased the vet clinic in 1997 and renamed it "Pony Express Veterinary Clinic". Since then, Russ has focused on large animal medicine; building a busy practice from Northeast Kansas to Southeast Nebraska. Russ especially enjoys surgery; including large animal surgeries as well as orthopedic small animal surgeries. Outside of work, Russ enjoys playing and coaching softball with his five daughters and attending all of the girls' activities in both sports and school. He also enjoys hunting when he has time and snorkeling during beach vacations with his family.
- Spaying and NeuteringWe offer application of vaccinations and processing services. We can offer you the peace of mind that the vaccines were stored under the right conditions and applied correctly, maximizing the likelihood of an immunologic response. You can rest assured that the processing services such as castration and dehorning are done correctly so you don't have problems with bleeding, failure of the bands, missed testicles, scur regrowth, etc. Also, it is our goal to move cattle through as quickly and efficiently as possible, minimizing the stress response that can cause immunosuppression.
- X-RayX-rays allow us to evaluate almost any organ system such as lungs, heart, gastrointestinal tract, and of course bones. With our digital radiography system, we are able to acquire diagnostic images very quickly and have results almost immediately.
