      General Info
      Our story begins in 1942 when my father Frank Brennan opened a fruit stand in Monroe, Wisconsin. In the beginning, Frank purchased fruit from various locations, but he always found that he got the best produce when he personally visited farms and selected his fruit. As a result of his experience, he formed the underlying philosophy at Brennans: We Buy Direct So You Buy the Best. As Franks reputation for quality grew, he turned to buying cheese direct from factories. He didnt have to look far because the best cheesemakers were in his own backyard, Green County! Brennans could now offer Green Countys finest to their customers. Not surprisingly, it was and continues to be a highly successful relationship. In fact, many of those same families are still around today making cheese for Brennans. In 1967 we expanded to Madison with a Brennans Market, followed by another there in 1975, Brookfield in 1988, and a third Madison store in 2004. In 2003 we opened Brennans Cellars in New Glarus, Wisconsin, a cheese storage facility and the perfect place to hand cut and pack cheese fresh for all our Brennans stores. Our online gift store featuring Wisconsin Cheese Gifts opened in fall of 2004 at www.BrennansMarket.com. In August 2009, our newest location opened in Oconomowoc. Much has changed through the years, but one thing that will never change is Frank Brennans original philosophy of Buying Direct So You Buy the Best. The Brennans family personally visits and inspects every farm, orchard, vineyard, microbrewery and cheese factory that we do business with all over the United States and Canada, as well as Australia, Chile, New Zealand and Italy. Come in and check out our collection of micro-wines, Artisanal cheeses, specialty foods, micro-brewed beer and the freshest produce around. Brennan's has 5 locations serving southern Wisconsin: Monroe, Madison-Central, Madison-West, Brookfield and Oconomowoc.
