General Info
Since 1989, Villaggios has served Tampa Bay an authentic Italian cuisine with dishes from different regions of Italy. Recipes that have been passed down through the generations of our families are still served today. Food should be served with fresh natural ingredients and kept simple. Too often Italian food has been evolved over time and overfilled with ingredients that take away from the amazing natural flavors true Italian food contains. "Sapore Antico" represents Villaggio's belief and passion for flavors that are as simple as they were when Nona made them back home. Our desire has been to bring to America a taste for true Italian food, and through it, a touch of Italian culture.Since 1989, Villaggios has served Tampa Bay an authentic Italian cuisine with dishes from different regions of Italy. Gino Is Wonderful! Rachel as table Waitress also wonderful. However Giuseppe (owner) is a old world mean spirited Italian.
I was at the restaurant the weekend before Valentine's day, and everyone was waiting, waiting, waiting. We had two bottles of wine and appetizers before and I asked the waiter to find out when our dinners would be served after 1:45 minutes. Giuseppe came out with the dinners in about 15 minutes later, and yelled at me in front of my family and friends. He complained that I was impatient.
I am writing this review now because I have just calmed done, but he is an angry man, and one I no longer befriend. I have been going to this restaurant for over 15 years. I have never been treated so discourteously. I spent over $300 dollars for this dinner and it will be the last I spend at this restaurant.
I took my wife and family to Villaggio for our anniversary. The service was not good at all. Our waiter had to be hailed 4 times to refill drinks and bring us bread. The food was good, but not hot...I'm sure again due to the waiter.
The sadest part was the ending to the meal. We asked to see the manager. He's solution was not an apology, but directions for us not to tip the waiter. Yes, no tip for him, but what about my family? The cold food and the poor experience.
Oh...we got a big table he said. I showed him that if you put your arms on the table it lifted off on the other side.
Our final consolation? Yes...they did give us a gift certificate for our next visit. Next visit? Are you serious. You didn't take care of me last visit.
Second time around...I'm afraid last time around!

I've eaten at this restaurant several times. The ambiance is lovely. The food is great. The staff is sweet and authentic. The owner is definitely Italian and does a great job making sure his customers are happy. Excellent place to dine. I would recommend this Italian restaurant without hesitation.
