- Dental Examination
- X-raysDuring exams at Long Grove Dental Studio, we take a lot of pictures. Using digital and panoramic X-rays, handheld intraoral cameras and the DIAGNOdent laser caries detection system, we can look at every tooth in precise detail. These are all painless tools, and you can see the images at the same time we do, on a monitor placed in front of the dental chair.
- Oral Cancer ScreeningFirst we check for oral cancer visually to identify possible areas of concern. Then we utilize a screening technology called Vizilite along with a special mouth rinse to further examine the soft tissues in your mouth. The rinse makes any unusual cells glow in Vizilite’s low intensity light, pinpointing any areas that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

- Fillings
- Resin CompositeIf you’ve had fillings in the past, you’ve probably had dark, metal fillings— called amalgams—used to fill cavities. Amalgams are effective, but can release harmful mercury into your system. They expand and contract with heat and cold over time and can deteriorate. At Long Grove Dental Studio, Dr. DeMars uses tooth-colored fillings made of a composite resin that chemically bonds to your teeth for strong, durable restorations! Wouldn’t it be great to laugh and show nothing but beautiful white teeth?
- VeneersPorcelain veneers are the crowning touch for any smile. Wafer thin, naturally translucent, and beautifully white. What could feel better?
- CrownsNone of us have a lot of time these days. So when it comes to getting a tooth restored, isn’t it nice to know you now have a way to get your restoration in one, easy visit? We have invested in CEREC technology to quickly and conveniently custom create porcelain crowns right here in our office. It’s the kind of exciting technology that makes life just a little better all while making it easy to smile.
- BridgesA dental bridge is a false tooth that fills the space where you’ve lost a tooth. It’s set in between crowns that are placed as one unit on the teeth on either side of the false tooth.
- Dental BondingComposite bonding uses a tooth colored resin that’s sculpted onto your tooth to lengthen it, repair breaks or cracks, or even cover up badly stained teeth. Dr. DeMars shapes the resin, so it will look and function like the rest of your teeth. The resin is hardened with a special light, and then shaped and polished. It will be very difficult to see where your tooth stops and the bonding begins!
- Restorative Dentistry
- Root Canal TreatmentYour teeth are vital parts of your entire dental system. They rely on the pulp, the center of the tooth’s root system where there are nerves, tiny blood vessels, and tissues. If the pulp or other parts of the nerve become diseased or damaged and can’t be repaired, then the root has to be removed to save the tooth itself. This is what is commonly called a root canal procedure.
- DenturesSome patients are lucky throughout their lifetime, needing only regular checkups to make sure their teeth are in good shape. But most of us at some point will need some kind of restoration—fillings, crowns, dentures, etc. We’re proud of the work we do, but the less visible your restoration, the better! Your restorations should look exactly like the rest of your teeth, not be obvious that you’ve had dental work.
- Dental ImplantsI had an implant inserted. Was quick, painless and no swelling. I highly recommend the doctors and staff at Long Grove Dental.
- Oral SurgeryYour cosmetic work will be planned and placed, so that it naturally and beautifully complements any other treatments we provide from general care to oral surgery, TMJ problems, or sleep apnea symptoms.
- OrthodonticsAfter completing her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from Michigan State University, Dr. DeMars received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Dentistry in 2001. During her residency at Loyola University Medical Center, she focused on providing comprehensive dentistry to a wide range of patients, including cosmetics, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, pediatrics, orthodontics and oral surgery.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsInstead of braces, Invisalign and ClearCorrect use clear plastic trays that are replaced every few weeks until your teeth have gradually moved into better position. When minor tooth movement is all that’s needed, we can recommend a Hawley retainer, the familiar thin metal wire appliance that fits over the front teeth.
- BracesDo your teeth need realignment that would normally require metal braces? As an adult, traditional braces wouldn’t be a good fit with your lifestyle! At Long Grove Dental Studio, Dr. DeMars can fit you with Invisalign or ClearCorrect invisible appliances.
- Teeth WhiteningTooth whitening is one of the easiest ways to give your smile a real boost. At Long Grove Dental Studio, we offer Zoom!2® Advanced Power Whitening to lighten the color of your teeth up to 10 times whiter! It’s a simple process where we apply a bleaching gel (after protecting your surrounding gums), and you relax for about 45 minutes while the gel works its magic with the aid of a special light.
