      General Info

      The Backwoods is a welcoming shop that wants to bring the community together in order to benefit the community. Our goal is to provide workshops that will create new out of old, an organic local produce market, a learning center that incorporates art and nature. The Backwoods will create a place where artists of all genres can congregate to fulfill the creative urge. People in all walks of life can show their support for the community, share their own talents, and continue to create with the help of the friendly atmosphere that The Backwoods delivers. The business is meant to provide support for the community in order to help become a more sustainable society. The business will work in a circle. We supply a recycling or market area; recyclables are donated and produce sold here; art and art supplies are created from recyclables, old produce also goes towards fresh compost and worm farm; art, art supplies, and fresh produce and seeds are sold, donations suggested for rich compost for gardeners or farmers to grow more produce; thereby providing income to community and store; and the cycle begins again. As a mountain community, we can work together to foster sustainable behavior. The Backwoods will keep an open mind to any and all ideas that could benefit the community and keep The Backwoods in business.
