Deterdings does not respect its' customers. They sell outdated food and when you call to complain they are very rude then say they have a store policy of not giving out their names on the phone. I like to jot down who I spoke to so when I return to the store I can pass along that information. They mess up your order at the deli and the managers blame you and state they have a lot of returns, that should tell them that something is wrong with the service that they are providing. The clerks are usually pleasant but the managers and sometimes the quality of grocery available make it really hard for me to spend my hard earned cash there.

Deterdings Family Market caters to the local low income folks who cannot afford transportation to a real grocery store.



I moved to the area, and started going to Deterding's as a quick alternative to a longer trip to Shoprite. I have now stopped going to Deterdings all together.



The store is small and not very clean. The management is rude and self righteous.



On three occasions I purchased a prepared salad from the deli. In each case, the salads were spoiled. Unfortunately I was not able to return to the store for a few days.



Once I bought a large box of frozen ribs. The hand written sign in front of the ribs advertised the price at a special of $9.99. When I got home, I saw that I had been charged $16.99. I returned to the store and was told to come back the next day and speak to the Meat Manager. The next day there was no meat manager. I was told that I was mistaken and the correct price was $16.99. Then a worked from the meat department was called. he told me that I was not the only person to complain about this particular price difference. The the woman in the office told me that there must have been some mistake, but there was nothing she could do.



So. Buyer Beware! Taste any food items which are prepared there Before you buy. Also I would check my receipt before leaving the store.



Bottom line is I will Never Shop there again. It is worth the extra time and distance to go to a Real Grocery Store.
