I don't know how well this man - John Greer - runs his business. I don't know how well he transport products across the nation. I do know this. I manage (and also live at) a small self storage facility in California. Late yesterday afternoon, I noted a commercial sleeper truck from BB TRUCKING Liberal, Ks. parked the wrong way, blocking in the car at the end of the block, in a green zone (20 minute zone) in front of my facility. I walked out and let the driver know that it was a 20 minute zone and that my tenants use the zone all the time. He said he would not be there long and I proceeded to go upstairs to my apartment. A while later, I heard the truck start and run for a few minutes. I thought he might be leaving. When he shut the truck off, and he'd been sitting there 48 minutes that I knew of,I walked down and let him know that each time he started the truck, it was very noisy in my apartment...not to mention the horrible fumes that I could smell. I was assuming it was a truck for the warehouse for a restaurant that is right next door to my facility. We often get trucks that wish to spend the night in the 20 minute zone so they can be first at the restaurant warehouse the next morning. I asked my husband to call the police and report the truck parked in the wrong direction in a 20 minute zone and he did so. I believe the police came and directed Mr. Greer to move on...which he did. This morning, at 8:38 I received a telephone call from Mr. Greer berating me if I heard him come by the facility earlier this morning. When I said I did not, he said (paraphrasing nicer than he said it) that it was too bad I didn't hear him - he was trying to let me know he was there. Yes, I hung up on the man while he was in mid-sentence. He had the courtesy not to call back. I am doing my job. I can not have people sleeping on the streets in front of my facility- no matter how much it ticks the truckers / motor home drivers or anyone else off. I understand that Mr. Greer is a one man show, and costs of sleeping in a hotel or finding a place to park his rig so he can sleep in the sleeper is hard, but that isn't on me. It is part of HIS job. I have nothing against truck drivers. My husband was a truck driver for many years and just in the past few years - when he retired - let his commercial drivers license go.
