After a chimney fire Mark Thomas and TopHat's team took the time to teach us a few things we didn't know about new technology available to old farm houses like ours that are heated by wood only. We don't have a fire place for looks; we have a two chimney work horse; a kitchen wood stove with two different flues, a living room double flu chimney with a fireplace insert for the bulk of our winter heating needs plus another upstairs wood stove for heat that is installed in our library. All will eventually need repair and replacements, you can bet we'll call Mark. TopHat took the complication and learning curve out of our new insert and were much more reasonable than competitors when we needed an estimate and help to interface with the insurance company. Then over a year later Mark came out personally to walk us through replacing a cracked brick as well as taking apart the insert for our yearly maintenance. We told him being so secluded we intended to do this ourselves to save money. Mark charged a very reasonable service call and for the few extra bricks we wanted to keep on hand. All of the training and time he took with us which obviously cost him much more money at the time and would also cost him down the road because we'll clean our chimney and do the insert maintenance ourselves instead of having TopHat here every year. He never mentioned it once. So, you can bet when the time comes when we can afford to change out the kitchen flues to stainless steel we'll call TopHat. We've already recommended Mark's company to three other more elderly rural customers who need regular yearly cleaning. We saw to it that TopHat was hired by a wealthy friend for a fancy farm house with four kitchens and many chimneys. The point is by Mark Thomas' work ethic and long term view of not looking for today's dime over tomorrow's dollar he and his company have loyal customers (and now friends) that will continue to promote his business at every opportunity.
