Fish Dinner for 5

Captain D's knows it gets taken for granted. They even advertise it. They claim to have fish that is just as good as Red Lobster for much less lettuce. I, for one, agree with them when it comes to fried fish. Their batter is consistently better than the "beer battered" fish you get at the pricey fish places. You ever ask for a boat of crackling at Red Lobster? Nope. I even give them a B- on their attempts at grilled fish and shrimp. Their sides are not as weak as they once were. Some love their slaw, but I don't. Their fries are not what I have in mind when I think "fish and chips." They have mediocre corncobs and baked potatos, and the overly watered green beans. Oh, and skip the jalepeno cheese bites. They are decent, but way overpriced for what you get. Their chocolate cake is gooey if you are into that sort of thing. For the contrarian in your crowd, they have chicken that nobody will go home bragging about it. Let's finish on a couple of positive notes. They make a mean sweet tea, and they get a million bonus points for being good condiment distributors. I am never at a loss for tartar sauce or vinegar.

Bottom line: Get quality fried fish for a decent price. Skip everything else.

General Info
At our Lebanon, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D's Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D's Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D's was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.
