      Founded in 1962, the Southern Nevada Health District is one of the largest local public health organizations in the United States. It provides a range of health care and environmental services. The district s role includes oversight and participation in disaster and emergency preparedness, including areas such as bioterrorism. The Southern Nevada Health District has a staff of more than 500 employees. It provides treatment services to patients with epidemiology and communicable diseases. The district also offers various support, community health and emergency medical services. The Southern Nevada Health District operates an environmental health division that features food and beverage establishments, public accommodations, child care and body art facilities, swimming pools, underground storage tanks. Its nursing and clinics division provides treatment services to patients with AIDS and tuberculosis. The district is located in Las Vegas.
