- Gingivectomy and GingivoplastyPrior to your gingivectomy, our periodontist will perform a thorough examination and take X-rays. When you receive your treatment, we will administer a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort, and then gently pull back your gums from your teeth. We will remove the bacteria and calculus in your mouth through scaling and root planing, and administer an antimicrobial liquid to kill any remaining bacteria in the area, and to encourage your gums to heal. Your gums will then be sutured back into place for 5-10 days to prevent shifting during the healing process.

- General DentistryDr. Dane Swenson grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado. He graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, while on a scholarship from the United States Army. He then completed his advanced education residency in periodontics with the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon, Georgia. After completing his specialty training, he served as Chief of Periodontics stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. He also embraced the opportunity to serve as a professor for a brand new 1-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program. He left the U.S. Army with the rank of Major and in total served for seven years on active duty.
