General Info
Dr. Vogelzang is a renowned medical oncologist and cancer researcher who has authored/coauthored numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and abstracts and has given hundreds of lectures and presentations to his peers worldwide. Dr. Vogelzang joined Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN) as a medical oncologist in 2009. He serves as Medical Director for the Genitourinary Research Committee through US Oncology Research and Vice Chair of SWOG, a worldwide network of researchers that design and conduct cancer clinical trials. He is also Associate Editor of Kidney Cancer Journal and Clinical Genitourinary Cancer. Prior to joining CCCN, he served as Director of Nevada Cancer Institute from 2004 to 2009. From 1999 to 2003, Dr. Vogelzang was Professor and Director of the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center and faculty member from 1982 to 2003. Dr. Vogelzang leads cutting-edge clinical trials in genitourinary malignancies and mesothelioma and is involved in new therapies for patients with metastatic kidney, bladder and prostate cancer. He has lead research in Las Vegas for two recent FDA-approved prostate cancer treatments – Provenge and Xofigo. In 2014, Nature published his research on an anti-PD-L1 treatment called atezolizumab for metastatic bladder cancer. The FDA is likely to approve the antibody for bladder cancer in 2016.
