Dr. Darniya Belton, M.D., F.A.A.P., currently serves as a Pediatrician at MUSC Children's Health Pediatrics-Lancaster, providing compassionate and comprehensive care to children of all ages. Renowned for her expertise in pediatric medicine, Dr. Belton boasts a robust educational background and extensive professional experience, exemplifying a steadfast commitment to excellence in health care. Dr. Belton earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and completed her Pediatric Internship and Residency at Texas Children's Hospital and Ben Taub General Hospital. Prior to her medical studies, she graduated Summa cum laude as Salutatorian from Johnson C. Smith University's Honors College in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Belton has held various esteemed positions, including Pediatrician at Lancaster Pediatrics, Madison Valley Pediatrics in Madison, Alabama, and Decatur Primary Care and Pediatrics in Decatur, Alabama. In each role, she provided exceptional inpatient and outpatient pediatric care, including Pediatric ER call coverage, Level 2 Nursery care, and attendance at C-section/high-risk deliveries. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Belton has actively contributed to advancing pediatric medicine through participation in research programs such as the Minority International Research Training Program at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia, and the Minority Access to Research Careers Program at Johnson C. Smith University. Dr. Belton is a distinguished medical community member, holding the American Academy of Pediatrics membership and maintaining licensure in South Carolina. She is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS/NRP), reflecting her unwavering dedication to upholding the highest standards of care for her young patients.
