Suddenly 286, I'd love to talk to you. I have had two ocassions at the bakery where I truly felt I was unwelcome with my service dog. Once he was not wearing his vest and once he was. Federal law does not require a vest or even registration. IF service had been denied I would have had a greater problem, but the incident happened after I had bought my dog a cookie. Not all disabilities are mobility issues. Is there a way to meet or talk in another area?

SERVICE DOGS un-welcome

I was entirely disturbed by how I was greeted. I have visited this establishment for many years and the one offense I receive was from the owner himself. I am medically disabled and have a REGISTERED SERVICE DOG which has a BRIGHT pink vest stating SERVICE DOG. The vest is impossible to miss. The owner, John himself...greeted me with "dogs are not allowed here". In shock I replied, "she is my SERVICE DOG and is allowed in any establishment I visit as long as she maintains a good nature by law." John, the owner then stated, "the health department does not allow animals". I was very up-set with the treatment and followed up the comment with a fact known by all ADA officials as well as all of the disabled community, what the owner John stated was illegal. I plan to file a complaint with the ADA as well as the BBB.

If you are searching for more information on how to REGISTER your dog as a SERVICE DOG after the proper testing and requirements have been met you can get all of the paperwork needed at www.registeredservicedogs.com The site is very self explanatory.

As a note to all those in any crisis at one point or time in there life...would you visit an establishment again with that kind of treatment? If so there is no wonder why justice is no longer prevailed against criminals, whether the crime be verbal abuse or a felony crime, it is all the same in my eyes. Why let people get away with such verbal abuse? Ask yourself that same question the next time you think of visiting John's Mountain Bakery.

A note to John or any of his workers reading this. I have said everything in exact words that occured. I will not back down from filing a complaint with the ADA as well as the BBB and I do plan to stop this discrimination. Maybe the next time you witness a SERVICE DOG you will be respectful, I am sure once I am through filing many complaints that there will be a major attitude adjustment. I am truly saddended by your behavior John.

Sincerely,

A 21-year-old "disabled" girl with a SERVICE DOG in a bright pink SERVICE DOG vest

My wife was here when you came in and you are giving half truths. John once you said that it was a service animal said it could stay but you left without even listening to him, an two other people said that the dog was not wearing a service vest. A service animal is a trained animal that preform a service. your animal was a companion animal that you carried in your arms. the key word is trained a animal that makes you feel better as a companion from some mental or other reason is not allowed in food services business. This is not to diminish any proplem that you may have but i have contacted the county also and they say that what John had sad was the right answer. I am sorry for what ever you had gone threw that day but it will happen again if someone brings in a animal besides a true service animal that helps someone navigate the world around them.
