A quaint little restaurant in the heart of La Mesa, Tamarind does well for the fact that it's in the "heart of La Mesa." It's food is good, it does have variety even offering tropical martinis like mango. My partner and I ordered the Tom Khar which seemed watered down in taste. We had pork satay, and let me tell that it's the only restaurant I've been to in San Diego that serves pork satay and it was small, but good. We also ordered some entree that I don't even remember what it was. But then if I don't remember it, then it wasn't memorable. However, I will say this. If I'm in the area and I was craving some Thai, then I would stop by and order some things to go.
