General Info
Samuel Pan, MD, is a board-certified infectious disease specialist who treats HIV positive individuals in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He also sees patients for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Dr. Pan is a part of UC San Diego Health's Owen Clinic, one of the nation's outstanding primary care centers for HIV positive men and women. An expert on a variety of infectious diseases beyond HIV/AIDS, he also provides consults on osteomyelitis, (bone infection), postsurgical infections, skin and soft tissue infections and hardware-related infections. His research focuses on developing novel digital technologies to help manage the health of patients with chronic diseases. He is also interested in understanding social and cultural barriers associated with PrEP, especially for marginalized populations.Dr. Pan completed an infectious disease fellowship at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a residency in internal medicine at University of Maryland School of Maryland in Baltimore. He earned his medical degree from University of Colorado Medical School. Dr. Pan also holds a master's degree in basic biomedical science with focus in immunology from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He is board-certified in internal medicine and infectious disease. He is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America, the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. Additionally, Dr. Pan volunteers monthly as an attending physician at the UCSD Free Clinic for underserved, low-income or undocumented individuals.
