Established in 1916, Howard Elementary School has an enrollment of more than 200 students. The school serves students in kindergarten through grade six. It employs over 20 certified teachers and nearly five instructional assistants. Its academic curriculum includes English, math, science, language arts and technology education. Howard Elementary School offers before- and after-school programs. The school also provides the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program for drug awareness among students. It additionally conducts science fairs, art competitions, spelling bee contests and Math Bowl. Its facilities include a cafeteria, playground, media center, gymnasium and classrooms. Howard Elementary School has a parent-teacher organization that organizes various fundraising activities and programs. The school is located in Kokomo, Ind., and is a part of Northwestern School Corporation.
