A year ago Jan. my husband purchased a 3 month old Black Labrador pup from this outfit at the Sportsman's Expo in Sacramento. They puppy still had his du claws, I guess there's mixed ideas about their removal so I let that go. We took him to our Vet to be checked out in just a few days after joining our family. The puppy had diarrhea. The puppy it turns out had giardia. My Vet said that the people we purchased him from must have known, and that it was irresponsible of them not to have let us know they were selling a sick dog. We phoned the kennels and they said that they had been treating the puppy for giardia, but thought he was probably fine when they sent him off to the Sportsman's Expo. Against my wishes my husband took our puppy to stay at Olive Hill for a week to be 'trained' to hunt birds. At the end of a week we got a puppy that would hunt birds, but was suddenly scared of strangers (especially if they're wearing a knit cap). We have been working tirelessly with him to help get him over this fear.

Now for the reason I'm taking the time to write this review. We were thinking of breeding our dog. As responsible people we took him yesterday to have his hips and knees x-rayed. He is only 2 years old now and has the hips of an elderly, much larger dog. My vet suggested that I get a second opinion. The second opinion came back today. My dog has an obvious congenital defect, and we would be irresponsible to breed him. Just as it's irresponsible to have bred him from a dam and sire that did not have their hips x-rayed before procreating. Shame on you Olive Hill Kennels! Oh, of course they would give us our money back if we gave them back our dog.
