      Babysitting and working with children as an adolescent inspired Dr. Maira to become a physician. Working in pediatrics has allowed her to combine her love of children with practicing medicine.Dr. Maira was inspired to pursue her career in medicine from her parents, Italian immigrants who worked hard and made sacrifices to provide a better life for their children. Her parents exemplified that with perseverance and dedication, anything is possible.In her free time, Dr. Maira enjoys spending time with her family. She enjoys reading, volunteering at her daughters school and health and exercise.I take a holistic approach to caring for my patients, not only looking at the current problem but also how the psychosocial family dynamics affect that issue and other concerns for the patient. My focus is on preventative medicine and educating both the patient and the parents. I enjoy watching my patient's grow and evolve from infancy into adulthood.
