      Founded in 1917 and located in Kalamazoo, Mich., the Girl Scouts of Glowing Embers Council is a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of programs for girls. It provides outreach and school-based scouting programs for girls who are unable to participate in regular scouting programs. The organization offers resident and day camping programs that include a variety of activities, such as swimming, horseback riding, sailing, campfire skits and hiking. It also provides training and consulting services for volunteers and troop leaders. The organization offers product and cookie sales programs to generate funds for troop and girl programs. It operates council stores that provide uniforms, accessories and other supplies for Girls Scouts. Girl Scouts of Glowing Embers Council offers Just Us, Crazy about Webkinz, Geo-Caching and Dad & Me programs. The Girl Scouts of Growing Embers Council is a part of Girl Scouts of the USA, which is one of the premier leadership skill development organizations for girls. Founded in 1912, it serves more than 3.7 million girls worldwide.
