Pastor Adam and Rebecca were both born and raised on the WESTSIDE of Jacksonville. They were married in 2006. And blessed with TWO beautiful children. Noah (8) and Naomi (6). They began their ministry serving AS student pastors AT a church in the Avondale area. But GOD HAD a different story written for them on the westside. In the fall of 2012. Adam and Rebecca believed GOD was calling them to plant a church. They rallied a team of 11 people. And held the church’s first meeting in their living room. The PETERSON’S passion for reaching the WESTSIDE with jesus’ love spread AS more people joined the team – they eventually HAD SO many people they couldn’t FIT in the living room ANYMORE! GOD continued to open doors. And rise church launched its first worship experience in Eagle’s view ACADEMY’S GYM on August 25TH. 2013. During the next year. The church grew steadily AS more families. Young and OLD. Began to call rise church home. Every Saturday night a team of volunteers transformed the school into church. And broke it back down to a school after the experience on Sunday. GOD was changing individual lives and entire families. NO ONE COULD’VE imagined what GOD would DO. Or what HE HAD planned for the future of rise church. In the fall of 2015, a local church. Macedonia baptist. Called pastor Adam to discuss a potential merge. After many conversations and much prayer. The TWO churches paired. GOD provided in a HUGE WAY. And rise church moved into its first permanent building in 2016. GOD was changing even more lives through the NEW building! attendance doubled the first Sunday. And just like the living room three years AGO. They couldn’t FIT anymore! the only solution was to have TWO separate worship EXPERIENCES! FROM 11 people in a living room to a fully furnished building with TWO worship experiences. GOD has used rise church to Bring people to JESUS! SIMPLY PUT. The story of rise church has been a move of GOD. And we believe GOD is just getting started. We love OUR city and want everyone to hear about and embrace jesus’ love! come join US and experience ALL GOD is doing AT rise church.
