They always have great food and great service, Mariella is a great waitress.

Really great food. Everything on the menu tastes fresh. I love the carne asada potato, and the chicken chavo. My family loves the molcajete. One of the two best places to eat in Independence, KS.

My husband and I have eaten at Maria's for years and have never been disappointed! The food is wonderful! We especially like the chips and salsa--some of the best chips in this area for sure! The wait staff is courteous and sensitive to our needs. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

The service is really really bad. And you can't avoid a bad experience by ordering food to go. They serve low grade dog food. Go to El Pueblito in Independence. Great service, great food, way cleaner restaurant; major difference!! Places like Maria's lets you know the health inspector doesn't make his rounds that often..

It has been some time since we had been in this restaurant and never again. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce out of a can throw in some onion. Not any of our food (I had steak fajitas, my husband seafood enchiladas) had any taste at all. My black beans weren't cooked! The prices are high for the kind of they food they are serving. I will never go back there again. I am guessing the person that came over to our table inquiring why we didn't like the food was the manager. We had to pay half price for this food. Customer service sucks also. I have put the word out this is not a place to eat! Rice no flavor, black beans not cooked, rest of food no flavoring at all. Chips were the only decent thing but no flavor. Queso no flavor 3.79 for a small bowl. I honestly never knew Mexican food could taste this bad. Such a disappointment!!!!

Waitress spelled a glass of water all over me. Taco Bell is a way better choice. For two adults and one taco for the kid, the bill came to 32 bucks....

I was travelling through Independence and was referred to this restaurant by a local. I had some great food and great service.
