- EndometriosisEndometriosis is a painful, unpredictable, and discouraging disease. The lining of the inside of the uterus, called the endometrium, builds up to prepare for pregnancy but if the woman does not get pregnant, the lining is shed during menstruation. Endometriosis occurs when the cells of the endometrial lining grow outside of the uterus.
- Pelvic PainA hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that is conducted to remove a woman’s uterus. There are several reasons a hysterectomy may be performed including chronic pelvic pain, excessive vaginal bleeding, endometriosis and painful uterine fibroids. Looking for cancer can help find it at an early stage, when it may be easier to treat. Cervical cancer screenings through pap smears typically begin at the age of 21.
