ANW Special Education Cooperative was founded in 1971 with an enrollment of 155 students in its first year and now enrolls more than 1400 students. It provides services to eight school districts covering 34 schools and five counties in southeast Kansas, including Allen, Anderson, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson counties. Its students include gifted as well as disabled children.The cooperative has more than 100 certified staff members that include school psychologists, speech and language pathologists, nurses, adaptive physical education instructors, psychology para-educators and a vocational coordinator. All social workers and psychologists are trained in conducting functional behavior assessments. ANW Special Education Cooperative is located in Humboldt, Kan.
