The Howell Area Fire Department provides a range of 24-hour emergency assistance and fire protection services. It maintains a staff of full-time fire chief, marshal and administrative assistant. The department also has part time inspector and more than five firefighters. The Howell Area Fire Department protects over 40,000 residents annually. In addition, it operates nearly five engine companies. The department offers installation services for smoke alarms and detectors. The Howell Area Fire Department provides repair, maintenance and inspection services for fir extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors and fire escape ladder in homes and offices. It conducts fire prevention workshops and presentations in schools and colleges. The department maintains a fleet of rescue units and utility and pumper trucks.
