nice friendly atmosphere, with good quality for the price, and with notably good service

Tasty and great ambience!

I must say I enjoyed this place. However, I won't go during the lunch rush again cause it gets busy!! Regardless of the rush we were treated well and promptly. Food was exceptionally great and the ambience is just as great. Good thai experience.

Great food, not so good service

Pros: Spicy cream cheese rolls, drunken noodles, fresh mango, noodles

Cons: Customer service, Curries, and seating

They have great thai food (my favorite thai place in houston)! Their service is like most hole in the wall places - they know its good, and they don't care if your coming back.

They messed up our order 4 times in one sitting (both apps and our 2 meals). Instead of apologizing, the guy pulled out the menu and started arguing with us. When he realized he was wrong, he said that is how it would come out even though the vegetables inside your meal were not listed on the menu. No apologies.

On the other hand, their cheese rolls and noodle dishes are the best in town.

I will def go back, but they def need to up their customer service a notch!

Their mild medium and hot are quite spicy, so be careful when ordering!

Best Thai in Houston

I spent a month in Thailand and can say this is the best thai in Houston. Beware if you ask for hot they will make you wish you had brought it down a notch.

Bad service

They were giving out discount cards at the IFEST and we decided to visit Thai Gourment as a result. The food was good but the service was horrible. After we finished our meal we left the server a decent tip and also provided the 10% off coupon. The server went to the manager and the manager informed me that I had to purchase a beer for the discount. I showed the manager where the card read ""10% discount on dine in only"" and nothing about the beer. She then called the owner of the restaurant at home and the owner wanted to talk with me. She changed the story and told me that that they made a mistake on printing the cards and would not honor it next time. The manager agreed to give me the discount this time. So she pulled my receipt and I was shocked to see my nationality on the receipt with exclamation marks. The server was apparently not happy with my tip and wanted to vent her frustration on the receipt. I showed this to the manager and she was sorry and gave me a 15% discount. This place is racially profiling people based on the amount of tip. So, eating at this place is anything but fun.

Worst food ever

Driven by at thai food craving my husband and I went there last week. My flat rice noodles were burnt and clearly reheated, the presentation and the test were terrible. My husband had an equally badly reheated rice dish that sent him to the ER to hours later for the rest of the night. To top it off they charge 1 dollar extra for EACH shrimp and they you cannot find them on the plate.

best thai food

I have eaten at dozens of thai restaurants around the country (and also in Thailand), and they have the best food which is also authentic. You must try the cheese rolls. Food is on the spicy side.

Best Thai food in Houston

My mom lived in Thailand for several years and makes Thai dishes quite often. My mom's yellow curry is THE BEST. Ever since I went off to college, I always crave her yellow curry. Thai Gourmet is the first restaurant I have come across that tastes authentic, and I've been to several in Austin, Houston, and Dallas. Their yellow curry tastes just like my mom's. I LOVE IT! Most Thai restaurants cook their potatoes separately and just throw them into the curry when a customer places an order. The potatoes don't soak up the curry flavor and end up being bland and undercooked. At Thai Gourmet, I think they cook the potatoes in the curry because the potatoes were exactly the way I like them.

Their levels of spiciness are unlike those at other Thai restaurants, so be extra careful when specifying how spicy you want your dish. In fact, I would ask for the waiter/waitress' advice.

I highly recommend Thai Gourmet! I will never go to another Thai restaurant in Houston!

authentic thai

If it's rated top 100 Thai Restaurants in the US, you better believe it.
The Pad Thai is like no other. I guess I had been eating the Americanized one. Hot is really hot, and I wouldn't try Thai Hot unless you want to be on the toilet all day. Spicy Cheese rolls don't sound Thai at all, but they are well worth an order. I have yet to try the whole menu, but everything I have tried so far leaves me very satisfied and empty plates.

Best Thai Food. Period.

This is the best thai food around. Try the spicy cheese rolls, satay, garlic chicken, and spicy chicken noodle. But beware! Hot is HOT!!! (I love hot food, but i order medium hot). The service is attentive and Kru Pong (owner, ) is always smiling and makes you feel welcome.

Best Thai Styled Food in Houston

Dee mak, aroy!

Great Thai influenced food. Must admit I never saw cheese in Thailand. They do a great job of blending flavors, texture and color.

Go off menu if you dare. Let them choose the foods and heat level based on Thai traditions. You will not be disappointed.

Curries are very convincing. Massuman is complex and satisfying without removing mouth tissue from excess heat.

Basil based dishes are very authentic tasting. Fish dishes are excellent, fresh and light.

Kob kun krabp,

Excellent Food, great personal service

This is one of my favorite places. The environment is authentic, the mural on the wall is amazing, you must visit this restaurant just to admire it. The food is amazing, I highly reccomend the Pang Nang, the cheese rolls, and their spring rolls. Service is fast. The establishment is small, but worth it. Their to-go packaging is wonderful. The plastic containers really help lock in the heat so its not stone cold when you get home.

I order the pad thai medium spicy. It was way too spicy and was bland. I will not be coming back again.

Great Food

I have been here several times and the food is great. Wonderful little restaurant, good choice of thai dishes at a very reasonable price. The wait staff are very attentive and helpful.
In my opinion this is one of the best thai places in town.

Must try the cheese rolls

Okay, now even the chef told me that her cheese rolls recipe is not authentic but I am telling you that it is to die for, thai or not. It's a little on the spicy side. Also try the coconut juice she has. The sweet juice is a perfect compliment to the spicy cheese rolls.

Best authentic Thai food in town

First off, I'm Thai who knows how to cook Thai dishes pretty well and I gotta say this place is simply amazing. The chef maintains the authenticity of real Thai food pretty well considering how hard it is to find all the required ingredients here in the US to make real Thai dishes. Thai food at other places are too westernized, at least to me and to many real Thai people I talked with in Houston. I love the place and it's now one of my only three favorite Thai restaurants in Houston!

Wow! Simply the Best

I am new to Houston and have searched the city for good Thai food. I haven't really had any luck until trying Thai Gourmet. My favorite dish is called Chu Chi (Red Snapper in an amazing red curry sauce). Prices are very reasonable and the service is top rate. I have tried around 5 things so far and everything has been fabulous. Mood is very romantic and a perfect place to bring a date. This resteraunts rating truly speaks for itself. If you go here, you will not be disappointed.

very attentive staff

The food was wonderful, and the ambiance was nice. It was a little loud at times because the place was packed. The wait staff was very attentive, which was nice but at times it was to the point of hovering. Not the first place I would recommend for a romantic dinner, but what this place has as its main strong point is very good Thai food.

Best restaurant

This is one of the best restaurants period. For the price you pay, this is one of few gems in town. It is by far my favorite restaurant because of the friendly service and excellent food. Try the spicy chicken noodle, pad thai, pineapple curry shrimp, cashew chicken, penang beef, cheese rolls, dumplings, or the satay. Everything on the menu is excellent.
