It has a feel like you old college pizza place.
Best Pizza in Houston. Wife took me here and now I will drive 40 miles for their Wheat crust pizza.
the margheritta pizza is the best !!
Star has been a good pizza joint for a while and it is still pretty darn good. They have a few different styles but to be honest, they're all pretty good. I like my pizza simple, pepperoni or sausage, and they don't mess it up. Pretty good service too!
Star Pizza is great and so yummy pizza. Also the staff is very friendly.
Wow I have had good pizza before but Star takes the cake. Its the crust totally out of this world. Would have have given 5 stars but the service was a bit slow.

Ordered a 14.50 Veggie pizza, needed delivery. They charged over 20.00 which was a 5.50 mark up. Taxes do not come to a third of the cost of the pizza. So that free delivery is a sham.
Pizza is the best I ever had in Houston. We ordered the Starburst, Marlyn's and Chicken Alfredo. The sauce is excellent, and the best one for me is the Starburst.
The wait is a bit long, but your patience will be rewarded with a pizza that's out of this world. Our server was warm and funny and we had a fantastic experience, and worth the 45 minute drive to try them out.
I recommend trying them out, and I'm sure you'll be back again.
The Pizza is very good, but me and my friends were not expecting the wait that we had.
We were starving and we wanted to try Star Pizza. We heard great things about the taste and quality of the food. So when we ordered we wanted food as soon as possible. After about 45 min we inquired about the status of our pizza, we were explained that since they make everything when it was ordered we were waiting for the pizza to finish cooking.
It was a great pizza, but I wish someone would have told us that is was going to be a while until actual food we would have gone a different time when we were not starving right them.
Ally was amazing!!!! Prompt very sweet and cute pizza was great... we are vegetarians definitely get the salsa verde.......definitely come here good food great service
Not only was the girl on the phone for my order rude, but the driver refused to bring the pizza to my door. He would not enter the complex where I live. What's the point? If I go all the way down the hall, elevator, etc, I could just as easily deliver my own pizza! Nearly dropped half my stuff getting back in the doors to go back up. ALL other pizza places have been so courteous and included door-service. This is the FIRST TIME EVER that I haven't left a tip (I am a HUGE tipper) and I will NOT be ordering from Star Pizza again. Pizza is nothing to write home about. I'll take convenience and a place with a good dipping sauce everyday over this place.
After hear about this place for years I tried it out 3 times. Each time I asked myself, what about this pizza is so enlightening to houstonions? There is no zing to their sauce. The crust is mediocre. The toppings are not particularly exotic. The amount of time it took for the pizza to be made was entirely too long each time.
Will I go there again? Hhmmm... yea no.
We love to try different types of pizza but nothing comes close to Star. They have the best pizza! It takes a while to get the food, service is ok, but the food is worth every minute.
People have raved about Star pizza in Houston. I live in Sugar Land so I wasn't about to drive 30 minutes to get pizza, but I allowed my friends to coax me into driving the distance. We get there and there is no parking, there are 50 people or so standing outside waiting for a table. I said to my friends ""are you serious? is the pizza that good?"" While waiting, I go to the bathroom to wash my hands, OMG, I felt like I was going to hurl. The bathroom was so nasty, I didn't want to wash my hands. I washed my hands in the sink that had hair in it. Then vigorously used antibacterial gel and prayed that it would be sufficient. Meanwhile 2 groups of people that came after us were seated. I go to the front, they said they called us but, my friends were standing on the porch by the door and heard nothing... Finally seated. Pizza comes, it is good! But I think, 30 minute drive, 30 min wait, nasty bathroom... I think I will settle for the pizza spots back in Sugar Land like Candelari's pizza They have good pizza, good service, no wait and clean bathrooms.
My Server Was Great, She was always there wend I needed something, Oh! And Here Name is kim. So Tip her Big! But My wait time was 37.6Min For A Great Pizza, But My Table Whabel back and forth. other then that, I'm Going Back againg!
I met my parents here as they raved about this place. The hostess at the front door was hard to find and we had to wait to be seated. Once we finally got a table, our server finally came around. She was ok , nothing special. It took almost one and a half hour to get our food. Our salads arrived 5 minutes before the pizza got to the table. Our drinks were never refilled. The bathrooms needed help. The urinals in the mens room smelled horrible. My mom said the ladies room was out of toilet paper. The pizza was alright. Nothing special. For the price of the pie, not enough ingredients were on it. It wasn't worth the wait and to get salads right before our pizza came was just not right. What has happened to this place my parents said? New owners? No customer service at all.
Ok so me and my boyfriend had heard about this place and we finally went one day. it seriously was one of the best pizza's i have ever had. I love it and i plan to go back soon.
Did this place change owners? Because the service and food was no good. Not the way it use to be. Sad
Whether or not Star Pizza itself calls this a ""Montrose"" location, it is not in Montrose. At least not the Montrose that most of us want to avoid when thinking about who is handling our pizzas. 59 and Shepherd is hardly ""Montrose"" so give it a rest already.
Ugly place and TERRIBLE Chicago style pizza, I do not think I will be back- NEVER-
