I LOVE this Gym!!!

This is a GREAT gym! The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. The personal training is the BEST I have ever received. The gym is NEVER crowded and has top-notch equipment. The locker rooms are clean and inviting. If you are looking for a gym that makes you feel like it it's your own personal club....then this is the gym for you!

A Great Gym and First Class Staff

The ROG is a first class facility. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, and the gym has everything I need. It's never too crowded either. You really get the feeling that it's a private facility. The friendly members and staff make for a great experience, and it's affordable. I recommend the ROG to anyone looking for a personal club.

gym's members are self absorbed

I have to agree with the review the member wrote at the very bottom. That ex-member stated it perfectly, good gym and bad owner. I also had an unusual experience at this gym, the owner likes to be vocally outspoken in regards to politics, which I found to be unprofessional. I didnt make a big fuss about it, I just quit the gym. I noticed that a lot of the members that frequent this gym are of the same political mind set as the owner. At times it became a political forum instead of a place to workout. I also notices that the other reviews were spaced very close to each other, makes you wonder about their authenticity. The gym is nice, but the small ""click"" of members are definitely full of themselves.

Hands down best gym and management

I have never had a bad work-out day at this gym. As a female who has been lifting weights for many yrs, I have run into every type of turn-off you can imagine. Stinky, B.O. smelling ""guys only"" areas that always seem to have a fart smell lingering in the air. Hairy loud men with too short shorts learing and making comments - girls know what I mean. These types of things can ruin a girl's work-out. This gym is pristine! It is the sort of gym space I would have in my home if I were wealthy. It is designed for comfort and is ""user friendly"". The owner is such a sweetheart! One of the nicest people I have met in Houston - always attentive, polite, and caring - and a total professional. I could not ask for a better place to work-out. There is absolutely no way anyone could be disappointed in this gym or it's ownership/management. That guy who left a bad review is confused or crazy.

Best Neighborhood Gym, Excellent Trainers

I’ve been a member of the gym since it opened and have stayed because of the personal training / excellent team that works there, the most updated equipment and amenities as well as a 5 star cleanliness rating! The owner takes pride in providing an environment that is welcoming to clients, which is also evident when working with any of the staff. I train with Chad, however through the years have gotten to know the other trainers and can attest to their professionalism and the support they offer to their clients. Whether you want to work out with a trainer or have access to the top of the line equipment without a wait – I’d recommend this neighborhood gym.

Thoughtful Owner, Great Gym

Over the past thirty years I have experienced numerous gyms. None compare to the gym created by Chad Evans. All trainers are courteous, respectful and up on the latest (and best) training techniques. The equipment is very well maintained and always clean. The locker rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. The atmosphere in the gym is neighborly and casual. It would be very hard to NOT feel comfortable, relaxed and motivated to work out at this gym. I have been a member since the doors opened and love it- especially Ella.

I love this gym!

I love love love this gym! I have been a member of River Oaks Gym for four years. The staff is unbelievable and it is always so refreshing when Ella, the mascot, greets you at the door. Chad really did something right with this gym. It's on a league of its own! I only have wonderful things to say about it. The facility is super clean, the staff is so nice and helpful, and both Chad and the trainers have always helped me if I ever have questions.

Love this place!

I finally got to stop looking for the perfect gym when I found this place, nestled in my neighborhood. The gym itself is spotless and clean, and for once I don't mind showering in a locker room because the showers and changing areas give me privacy! The owner and the trainers are always friendly and helpful, as are the other members. People of all fitness levels work out there, and it's nice to be around courteous people who are interested in their health, and not just in the size of their guns.

A Very Very Fine Place

Having met the owner more than ten years ago, I knew he had a gym but thought it was personal training only. Luckily I ran into Chad by chance one day early this year and ended up signing a full membership practically on the spot. I was so happy to leave the loud and impersonal previous gym for a place like this. Quiet and clean throughout, with excellent and courteous trainers and staff. If I only had more thumbs I could give this place more than two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Nicest Owner and best gym I've ever been with!

I'm fairly new to City Search so I'm checking to see the places that I already know and love to read the reviews...the person who left a poor rating was sooo wrong. The owner Chad is the salt of the earth. He is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and wants to see all of the people he is training safely meet their goals. I also do not feel the membership fees are too high...truth be told, I would be willing to pay more for the excellent quality of service, staff and support I receive from this awesome little gym. Thanks Chad!

Great Gym

I’ve worked out at River Oaks Gym for years. For me, this gym offers an incredibly professional, personal experience where I can go in, get it done, get expert advice, and get out. The equipment is first rate, the place is the cleanest gym I’ve ever used, the staff is professional and varied, and its owner caters to every need and concern. If you’re a juicer, this won’t be your gym. But if you’re in good condition and looking to improve yourself, if you’re looking to be respected no matter what your fitness level, or if you just want a professional, attentive and fun staff, this is the place.

Good Gym, Bad Owner

The gym itself is fine. It provides some of the lastest equipment. Though it could use some heavier weights. On the other hand the owner is a poor business man. His lack of flexibility in relation to customer service is very evident. He has lost my business and as well as my wife's due to his inferior people skills. The situation is unfortunate because my wife and I enjoyed our time at the gym with the rest of the trainers. In addition, the gym gets you right at the door. You incur a $250.00 sign up fee immediately in addition to your membership fee, which happens to be $25.00 a month higher on average of equivocal gyms. I have joined Elite FX which is in the same vicinity and there was no sign up fee, the membership was more accordance to competitor pricing. In other words they are not ""ripping"" you off. They also give you value added services at no cost. They also offer boot camps at a reasonable cost, which River Oaks Gym does not. River Oaks Gym's owner advertises nutrional advise, but when my wife asked on several occasions, it was like pulling teeth to get any information. River Oaks Gym is too ""rule"" based which is obstensibly counterproductive to a good workout. Besides the fact the owner likes to eavesdrop on his members conversations. It is unfortunate for the trainers that are employed there, they are good trainers and good people. In my opinion they should find another gym.
