Before my last visit to Crave I would have had a positive review of this place - the food is creative and the atmosphere is pleasant. Unfortunately the management at this place warrants a negative review. My friend had given me a gift certificate for $30 to this restaurant and so I took my brother there to celebrate his graduation. We went on the half off bottle of wine night. Before we placed our order I presented the gift certificate to the waiter and asked him if there were any restrictions at all on the certificate - he said no - I asked him if he was sure and he assured me there were no restrictions. So I proceeded to order our meal and a bottle of wine. When the check came - we were charged the full price for the bottle of wine. I questioned him and said that we were trying to take advantage of the half off bottle of wine special and then he said that since I used the gift certificate I was not eligible for any of the specials. I was speechless! I told him that I had tried to avoid this exact situation by asking him upfront if there were any restrictions on the certificate - and that he assured me and said no. He took the issue to his manager and his manager insisted that I pay full price for the bottle of wine - despite his waiter telling me there were not restrictions on my certificate. I told him right then and there that if they were charging me full price for the bottle of wine that this would be the last time they would see me. It was a slap in the face that after all the business that I had given this restaurant -they were willing to dismiss me for less than $20. Such a shame -especially since I had taken several of my friends there (including my birthday dinner!). Oh well, I refuse to eat at a place with poor customer service!

Located in midtown, you might just miss it if you weren't looking for it. The night we visited, it was not too crowded even thought it was 8pm on a Saturday night. I've heard that this is more of a happy hour place, so I'll have to check it out. Of all of the sushi places, I have dined at in Houston, I would rank this one in the top 5. Besides being a little pricey, I would say that the food is really good. Everyone at our table enjoyed their choice. The presentation of each dish was outstanding as you can see from my photo of the Cheetah roll. Now that I'm on the subject of the Cheetah roll, this is one dish that you MUST try. Very unique and one of a kind -- it includes hot flavored cheetos, yes cheetos. It doesn't sound good, but believe me it is. I would also give Crave a 10 on service. Our waiter was outstanding.

Crave Sushi is the best sushi in Houston hands down. Thats why they won ""Ultimate Sushi"" from the Houston Chronicle! Chef Robert is a young mastermind. Also, the owner gives back to the community. To Tim down below, you sounds a little racist. Maybe you don't belong in midtown. You should go back to the woods where you feel more comfortable. You know Houston is melting pot! This place is great! don't listen to the Haters...Crave Sushi doesn't tell you....it SHOWS you!!!!

The restaurant was very trendy and contemporary with modern decor. However, the specialty sushi rolls were not up to par...especially for their outrageous prices, ranging from $13-$20 per roll. I ordered 3 different rolls and they were way below average in taste. In addition, the waitress was not friendly, our food took forever, and I was handed dirty silverware.

We went there Saturday night to celebrate my husband's birthday. I had called the restaurant to make a reservation. I did not know they were not open yet. I looked online to see the hours of operation and as I was doing so, THEY called me back (they had just opened). By looking at the website, I figured it was not suitable for children but hoped if we got there early enough we could avoid the party crowd and it would be ok. The staff welcomed our children and were very friendly. We had a very attentive server. The hostess was friendly and offered to take a picture of our family together. The food was delicious. We had a couple of appetizers, at least 5 different sushi rolls and two desserts. It was all wonderful. I recommend the Tiger Lily and Volcano sushi rolls and the dessert trio. The fried ice cream was delicious as well. I found a new sushi spot! Though the staff welcomed my children, I do feel it is more of a place to enjoy on a date or with a group of friends.

I have been to Crave twice and will keep coming back! Great cocktail menu and you have to try their spicy edamame and famous Cheetah and Double Oh-7 roll. The service is great and if you sign up for their email list you get a coupon for $20 off a $50 tab!!! Thanks Crave for giving me a new place to keep coming back to!

Wow! I was looking for a new sushi spot and ran into Crave Sushi's rating on ZAGAT survey on google. Yes! I said ZAGAT. This place definitely lived up to their rating. The service is attentive and friendly. The ambience is upscale. If you closed your eyes and listened, you would hear the beautiful sounds of a busy restaurant or a happening place. And to boot, the chef is classicly trained at C.I.A. The ice cream and most of Crave's sauces are homemade. The menu is extensive. I would recommend the calamari salad, cheetah roll, and miso butterfish (off the menu). If you wanted to dine like you were on Top Chef, Crave is a gem.

I went for the first time at the beginning of this year and I have only gone back if I was attending birthday parties or dragged there by friends. The restaurant is small and never busy but is decorated nicely. The waiters are very inexperienced as if Crave were the first place they have waited at.
If you like going to bars in midtown the location is good, but most people know the new ""hot spot"" is Washington with tons of new restaurants and bars opening every month.
Now let's talk food... I haven't tried many of the entrees. I usually go to sushi joints for the sushi. The hot rock and the lamb are pretty good compared to their rolls, but not the best I've had. The fish is probably the least fresh I have ever eaten. I think the people who are leaving good reviews on the sushi haven't tried real sushi... No offense. The menu does have some strange rolls like a crunchy cheeto roll, if you are into that sort of thing. It's also just a bit overpriced.
I hope my review was helpful as this was my first time writing one and I'd love to hear any positive feedback/constructive criticism. If you want to bash my review (not mentioning names)... BRING IT. :)

So finally I get the chance to check out this place. I keep on hearing from all my friends at work ""yeah Crave was FUN last night!"" or ""that place really does make you CRAVE sushi"". So here are my two experiences...Last Thursday, I get greeted by the hostess (cute hispanic girl)..get seated with my friends. Server was prompt and knowledgeable. I ordered some sashimi (salmon, uni & ama ebi) and a spider roll. The basics for me to test out a restaurant...All I have to say is WOW! most fresh fish in town to date. I have eaten at Ra, Soma, Fish, Sushi King, Sage, and pretty much every little dive including sushi rock on holcombe. Crave Sushi is the BEST sushi in town. Why? because I have eaten sushi in Japan from a street stand, which WAS my best experience prior, but Crave just captured me completely with their sushi. My friends are a little more hip and tried their special rolls such as Tiger Lily (awesome and huge..10 pieces I believe), Slow Your Roll, and Pho Sho Roll. All great rolls and creative. Never seen these rolls anywhere. So that was a great dinner experience...So the next day I decide to go in for lunch. Great service, very fast, gets you in and out so you can get back to your desk. The thing that surpised me the most was the amount of food I received for under $10. Unbeliveable! the presentation on the salad was great. Soup was perfect and chicken Katsu cooked perfectly.
Well there you go...Best Sushi Experience and Food in Houston. Definitely going back and letting all my friends know about this place.

i went there friday and the place is amazing, i had albacore and the hot cheeto roll, yes. you have read correctly, hot cheeto roll, that place has the most original menu around, i wish i could have been hungrier so i could have tried more rolls. The restaurant is very modern and i felt really comortable, maybe some people think it is small, but they're proly just really fat and would feel cramped up if they got on a hummer... by themselves. and the originality of their menu makes this place unique, again, maybe someone out there will find uniqueness ""weird"" but that's proly cuz they never get out of mcdonalds and their ""wonderful"" dollar menu. anyways, if you want a place to eat GREAT sushi, at a moderate price, then crave sushi is for you. Oh and go to the bar and ask for a ""5 star""... do it, you'll be glad you did.

When I drove up to Crave Sushi the exterior wasn't much to look at , but once i walked in the restaurant is beautiful. Yes, you can say small..but I say intimate. Atleast, my husband and I thought so. The fish was fresh. Rolls were a little pricey, but hey! your in midtown..get over it. The service was good. My favorite item is the poke tuna appetizer..it came out smoking with dry ice..what a showstopper of a dish. I would give this place a 5 star, but only for the exterior I have to give it a 4. The review with one star is far from being on point. Just notice how short they are and non specific. I am an avid diner in the midtown area and very picky about restaurants. This place is top notch and competitors are just nervous. Once this place is exposed it will do really well. Just go check it out and look around and you will know exactly what I am talking about! Actually, I suddenly CRAVE SUSHI :)

Absolutely a huge let down. I came here for a friend's birthday party two weeks ago really excited to try a new place. The menu was just plain weird (not in a exciting exotic/original way), and it was way over priced. I should have guessed better when I noticed it was nearly empty.
Don't be fooled by the fake good reviews Crave obviously posted all over the internet. FRAUD!

What a let down from all the hype! The place is incredibly small and food is overpriced especially for the poor quality. Service is slow as well. This sushi joint is all trend and flash with no substance, plus it will cost you. Better venues elsewhere in Houston.

This place totally reminds me of a sushi lounge in New York. The decor is modern, lots of pretty people, and its just hustle bustle! The sushi is great and you can get it late night on the weekends. Chef Robert from NY is very nice and loves to shake hands. This is a great addition to midtown district of Houston.
