This location was the first and continues to offer a great meal for a great price. Perfect for a casual lunch or dinner.
I love Barnaby's. The Staff is always so nice and friendly and the food is excellent. It is only place I have ever found that has an egg salad sandwich and it is delicious. I would also recommend the brownie, it is topped with Amy's Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream and it is to die for.
Barnaby's is just plain awesome. I eat here probably 2 to 3 times per month, either with my g/f or by myself at the bar. The food is so good - especially for the value - no more expensive than Chili's or whatever. Menu items are unique. They have my favorite burger in all of Houston - even though it's more gourmet-style than burger joint style. Try the Lebanese Chicken Fattoush (it's a salad).
Waiters: super friendly and attentive every time. Make me feel at home. Atmosphere is fun and artsy.
Everything here is natural and healthy. The serve grass fed, respectfully raised meats, which is so hard to find - and it's not any more expensive than the crap meats you get everywhere else.
The also have the best damn choc chip cookies.
Oh, and for whatever it's worth to you, gay pride stuff is part of Barnaby's atmosphere.
The other locations are all good to, by West Gray is my regular.
It might not be my favorite Barnabys location but I must say, they never fail to give me the best burgers! Love it, it's healthy and delicious!
Food is extremely mediorcre. Staff needs training in customer service. Most over-rated restaurant in the city.
By far the best breakfast I've had in Houston, maybe ever. You will have to wait, but as mentioned...it's well worth it.
If your a fan of Barnaby's you will love Baby Barnaby's. It is tucked away in a cozy spot in the Montrose area, with outdoor and indoor seating. We sat immediately (I arrived right before the morning rush 10am). Although the location is small and a wait quickly forms outside, it is well worth the wait. I was very impressed with the menu, the selection was awesome. I ordered the huevos rancheros, and I have to say that they were some of the best I've ever had. It was relaxing and the staff was friendly and quick. I am most definitely going to be visiting again soon.
This is my boyfriend and I's go-to weekend brunch spot. We always wait extra for a table outside because the inside is far too loud and always share the same dish: the low-fat protein burrito but made with fat (we add cheese and potatoes). Most importantly the waiters do not hesitate to bring us an extra order of the sides (guac, salsas, sour cream). This is a key to our relationship as we have nearly broken up over condiment sharing issues.
They serve brunch until two on weekends, which gives me time to get there and sip coffee for a couple hours on the patio without feeling rushed. Serve yourself coffee while you wait and full carafes of water at the table keep you happy.
Charming, friendly service, consistently tasty and filling - a true neighborhood gem. Bicycle in to avoid parking hassles.
I absolutely LOVEEE barnaby's!! I've tried a lot of the menu, and have yet to eat anything that I was unhappy with. The meatloaf is fantastic, so good that when I order antyhing else there I normally ask for the meatloaf sauce on the side. It's great and will be returning shortly.
Hi Jeff,
I love your food. I've been eating at Barnaby's for the past 10 years and just recently, due to health reasons, have become a vegetarian. Last night I was at the W.Gray location, studied the menu and noticed some possible improvement. Everything is delicious; however, I did find that a veggie sandwich and entree option were lacking. The burgers and salads provide enough veg. options. For the sandwiches, you could provide a veggie sandwich w/ a ""special sauce"" and for the entree maybe a tofu stir fry. I love Barnaby's and take everyone I know there. Just want to give a shout out for all the vegetarians who love Barnaby's. Thanks for all your love and care-ileya
Poor service; mediocre food. Pretentious clientele; full of yuppie wannabe's. We were sitting outside when it started to rain and the waiter could not figure out what to do even though there was an unused umbrella at the table next door.
this was our first visit to Baby Barnaby's, we frequent Barnaby's(Midtown) often. we did have a wait as we arrived after 12:00 p.m. it was not painful at all, as we quickly poured a cup of coffee and enjoyed the people watching until we were seated.
the service is great and they are very accommodating to any request. my husband ordered the apple pecan pancakes and i ordered the corn beef hash. his serving was easily enough for two(or 3). be aware that they make these as ordered, so there is a wait time you should factor in. definitely worth the wait. my corn beef hash was not what i expected. it was not terrible, however i probably will not order it again. the potatoes were wonderful, but there were so many and the beef was minimal and dry. i wish i would have asked for a detail of this dish as it's not the traditional CBH i was anticipating.
the customer service definitely compensated for any disapppointment otherwise(thanks Jose!). we are already discussing what we will try the next time we visit Baby Barnaby's
First of all,the waiter failed to greet us,or introuduce himself, in any fashion and sneered, when he curtly asked ""what can I get you drink"". I tried to over look that. I have ordered the samething from the breakfast menu that I always do since going to Barnaby's. He tried steering me to another item that was more expensive.I know I should not be judgemental. Barnaby's is a very good restaurant, with great staff. What happened today was not the norm. I hope this waiter will get the training he needs, so that he can catch up to his more pleasant and customer service oriented co-workers.
I go to this place at least a couple of times a week - going on 4 years now. To start, the parking isn't great. You drive up hoping it's not crowded so you have a place to park, but even when having to park down a side street, it's worth the hassle.
The food is great. The wait staff are all very friendly and fun, very chill and casual. The menu is fairly small, but after sampling almost everything they offer, I' ve never been disappointed. My favs are the tuna salad with pecan sandwich, the Luna's Meat Lasagna (ask for the sauce from the Spinach lasagna), the Buffalo Burger and for dessert, ask for a cookie with ice cream. It's to die for. PS... Order fries with anything you can, they are the best fries in town.
I don't know if it's the amazing banana-walnut pancakes or the personalized service, but Baby Barnaby's is the perfect place for a Sunday morning breakfast. Be sure and get there right when it opens or plan on a 15+ minute wait for a table. They have coffee for those waiting. The waiters are very personable and do a great job managing a very busy place. I don't know what else to say except give it a try.
The noise is so loud, you can't have a decent conversation. It's extremely crowded at lunch time, so arrive early or expect a long wait. Tables are quite close together, so expect a cozy experience. The hostess desk was multi-tasking seating people, taking phone orders, etc., so there was a long wait to even pay the bill. All in all, I'd say way over-rated. The menu had nothing that jumped out and said, ""Try me. This looks interesting.""
One big yawn.
Great food, great service, great price. This place is has instantly become one of my favorite joints in one of my favorite parts of town. A must go!!!! I recommend the waffle fries with blue cheese fondo!!!
The food is very good. I especially like the one on Fairview. Recently I was seated where I could see the cooks in the kitchen. Hygene is horrible. Using their bare hands they would make salads, fix hamburgers, etc.,then go to the store room and do other things and never once wash their hands between these different tasks. It was so off putting to watch, I really can't go there anymore. If the people who handle food in a cafe are going to use very poor hygene, the kitchen should be closed off so the customers do not know how awful it is.
I love this place! They have the best salad (get the Chicken Fatoush). The services is excellent, prices are reasonable and quality of food is great. Ask for Jay - He took great care of us. He was a great waiter - he was attentive, fast, fun and professional.
Its always fun to bring someone to Barnaby's who has never been before. I love the atmosphere and the staff is always so accomodating and friendly. I usually go for lunch and its packed! The wait time for a table is a good 10 minutes, but its totally worth it. I usually go for a sandwich (the pesto chicken salad) or a burger (the boca burger is great and its huge!) But I've recently had an obsession with their Mediterranean chicken fatoosh salad! All the portions for the dishes here are enough to feed two, but this salad is good for three! Its packed with lettuce, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, red onion, pita chips, parsley and a whole grilled chicken breast stacked on top! (you can request to take out anything, but I suggest to keep it all on there) I can't even describe how good the dressing on that salad is, but whatever it is, I'm hooked! I always order a side of fries to go along with it (seasoned and crispy) and if i'm STILL hungry after that (doesn't happen so often) I'll get their chocolate chip cookie (warmed up.. WOW). If you can't handle the regular sized salad, I'd suggest to ask for the half portion. It's still massive but a couple dollars cheaper! (which you could use on that cookie instead). Barnaby's never fails to make me happy and full. The only thing I'd complain about is the parking. If I can't find a spot up front, I'll go around the block at least once. Or twice. Someone has to leave eventually.
