This Hotel is old, smelly and dirty! Floors are disgusting in bathrooms and rooms. We booked our whole ball team here and everyone was disappointed and disgusted. One family had a baby roach in their room. The lady at the front desk insisted it was a "swam bug." What!?!? Another family brought home a huge spider with them. Staff was not friendly. I don't recommend this hotel.
If you live in Houma or visiting, think twice about staying at the Howard Johnson, Lamar St. location (near the Civic Center) if you have a little one or may have friends or family with a baby who may visit you.
My 7 day stay at this location was shorten because of my niece visting us at the room and did exactly what a one year would normally do, (BM in diaper).
What establishment do not embrace babies?
My family and I checked in another hotel, we had a pleasant stay and the staff did not have a problem with a baby being a baby.
Manager, Ty Rideau was very nice and professional. Housekeeping staff was great.
OWNERS, husband and wife get TWO THUMBS DOWN.
The wife was especially rude. It is now clear to me why we did not have any problem with parking. Their lot was EMPTY.
Of course it does not end here. BBB next on my list to contact.
This was my first time to stay in the Howard Johnson hotel in Houma. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the facilities. I require an ADA room. The one assigned to me was roomy and comfortable. The staff members were plesant and helpful. I had a bagle and banana at the complimentary breakfast bar. They were both fresh and delicious.
I have two suggestions. First, inform the guest that a $1.50 surcharge is added to the room charge for the in-room safe, regardless of whether the safe is used. Second, replace the analogue TV with the high definition receivers and service.
I made reservations at this hotel a month in advance. I called the hotel the night before to confirm my reservation. I was told that my reservation was not showing up.
The Howard Johnson in Houma then charged me $150 for "not showing up" for my reservation. The manager (Dion Smith) laughed at me and called me a liar when I asked for my money back. On top of all this, the rooms were dirty and bathrooms hadn't been cleaned!
