I am a 68 year old woman who lives alone except for a granddaughter who is away at college (Hendrix). I don't know anything about plumbing or electricity. I hired Robert Meyer Plumbing on March 23, 2018 to fix a plumbing problem (overflow in second bathroom) . He charged me parts and labor and it came to $260.50 and I paid him in full He gave me an estimate for "new sewer and repair partial under house" for $1675. I told him Monday I could not afford that. He said "Oh, don't worry about that. It won't be that. It's negotiable. So, wouldn't anybody expect parts and labor would be included in the bid? I asked him why so much and there were so many "mam's" I am not sure what he was trying to tell me. The receipt says $1675 for "Bid work for sewer" plus parts and labor making it a total of $1910.! I paid him. I did not know what to do. I called him because instead of fixing a bathroom sink, he broke it and now I have to hire someone to fix what he broke. I called him yesterday and he said he would refund. I called him today and he said he would not refund all of it. I don't expect him to refund parts and labor, but what the hell was the "$1675" for??? I have been ripped off so badly. He is supposed to be coming Monday to talk to me about this. I hope I can edit this post with something positive. BTW this all took nearly a month.
