The New York City Sub Shop specializes in making quality sandwiches the New York way – with quality meats and cheeses on freshly baked bread. The New York City Sub Shop celebrated its 29th Anniversary in 2014. The shop was originally founded in 1985 when Bruce Tlougan opened the first shop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in a tiny 110 sq ft location. No sitting room there, customers stood outside and waited for their sandwiches to be handed to them through a take-out window… even in a snowstorm! Bruce earned a loyal following in Jackson Hole, which prompted him to expand his horizons further west to Oregon; a state that was becoming a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts of all sorts. In 1989, Bruce and employee Andrew Deenik started a sub shop in Hood River, Oregon with Andrew as manager and shareholder. Andrew followed Bruce’s formula; high quality subs served simply and served fast. Eventually, locals and tourists alike flocked to the Hood River location for delicious subs. In 1993 the New York City Sub Shop expanded its growth to Bend in Central Oregon. After several re-locations over 21 years there are now two shops in Bend and one in Redmond. In 2014, the Hood River location was sold to long time employee, Chris Emerson and wife Kelly. The same formula for high quality and fast service continues at the shop today and is still a favorite among locals and travelers.
