When we arrived in Honolulu years ago, my husband and I left the mainland with a concern about colorectal symptoms that were dismissed and taken lightly and additional testing ignored by the attending doctor originally visited. Both of us in our mid 40's automatically profiled us as candidates for regular exam and evaluation, and my husband had a problem that was not going away. Fortunately we were placed in the careful hands of Dr Tan who was recommended by a very respected and highly qualified Hawaii specialist. When Dr Tan reviewed my husband's medical history and test results ( of which there was not enough information to make any correct conclusions ) but based on what he did read, he immediately scheduled the appropriate x-rays, blood work etc. And that was done the next day s.t.a.t. The following day we were called to his office and he made us aware that there were several masses indicated in the x-ray and scheduled my husband for a colonoscopy. This wasn't just hemorrhoids...... which was the conclusion of the preceding doctor without any additional exams or tests.

The procedure was done and revealed that there were 5 large masses, and fortunately all were non-malignant. Since then, he has been our family doctor for the last 15 years. He is caring, focused and has the patient's best health interests first. He works hard. He saved my husband's life from cancer.
